CIVILIANS attempt to rebuild their lives after an onslaught of Russian shelling in the city of Chernihiv, Ukraine.

In Yahidne, a twenty-minute drive to the south of Chernihiv, a hotel can be seen still standing despite significant damage.

The building looked as though a powerful round blasted through its upper levels, leaving a wave-shaped section of now-missing rooms and roof.

Chernihiv, towards the border with Belarus, was not spared from shelling and thousands were left to cope without electricity, heating or water.
