The Soyuz-2.1a space rocket was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.

A successful launch of the Soyuz-2.1a medium-class launch vehicle with the Meridian-M spacecraft was carried out by the Combat crew of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces.

All pre-launch operations and the launch of the Soyuz-2.1a space rocket were carried out in normal mode. The means of the ground-based automated spacecraft control complex of the Russian orbital group controlled the launch and flight of the rocket.

Meridian satellites are designed to provide communication between sea vessels and ice reconnaissance aircraft in the area of the Northern Sea Route with coastal and ground stations. The satellites are also needed to expand the capabilities of the network of satellite communication stations in the northern regions of Siberia and the Far East for economic development.
