Recently I had the pleasure of sitting down with Carlos Tanner, founder and director of the nonprofit Ayahuasca Foundation, a healing and research center in the Amazonian island-city of Iquitos, Peru. You may be familiar with the Zac Efron documentary "Down to Earth," which featured the foundation and is a must see.
The Ayahuasca Foundation is doing some of the most important work of our time; simultaneously working to preserve and protect ancient knowledge and traditions of indigenous peoples such as the Shipibo, while providing space for groundbreaking research at the forefront of modern medical science. A recent study hosted by the Ayahuasca Foundation looking at ayahuasca and epigenetics may revolutionize our understanding of healing , and catalyze the development of new therapies of unprecedented efficacy. And of course, decades of research has already firmly established that psychedelic medicine is unrivaled in its potential to treat a plethora of conditions, ranging form addiction, depression, PTSD, and many others.
