Communication is the process
by which people share information, ideas and emotions.
The project communication management process reveals a liaison process between the three elements of people, ideas and information needed to achieve successful communication. The project communication management process includes: communication planning, identifying the information and communication needs of project stakeholders: who are the project stakeholders, what is their level of benefit and influence on the project, who needs what information, when they need it and how it should be distributed to them.

EV (Earned Value) the budgeted value of work actually completed
i.e. the amount of money that should be invested in the completed work up to a certain point.ETC (Estimated cost of remaining work) ETC = total PV - EV completed or ETC = PV of remaining work x CPI2) Most common yardsticks: CV (Cost deviation): CV = EV - ACCV>0 (Cost saving) CV<0 (Cost overrun) SV (Schedule deviation). SV=EV-PVSV>0 (over schedule) SV<0 (behind schedule)
Prevent problems with project scope
schedule and quality arising from cost control.

This includes: 1) Identifying
changes to the project cost baseline plan and ensuring that changes move in a favourable direction
2) monitoring the implementation of costs on a work package by work package basis, with proper analysis and assessment of realised costs; 3) managing work packages where cost deviations occur and taking targeted corrective action; 4) informing relevant project personnel of approved cost changes and adjusted cost base plans; 5) preventing improper, unauthorised costs from being included in project costs
