The Captain’s Daughter
Words and Music: Willy Minnix
I’ve been washing my hands in briny water
Staring longingly at the captain’s daughter
If he catches me he’ll have my eyes for sure
But a lifetime of blindness may be worth an hour of her cure
He might use me for cannon fodder
Still I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
He might keel haul me in ocean water
Still I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
I’ll not die in the arms of another
I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
In his iron bound trunk his gold is stashed
Would she be free if his head got bashed
I could take to the high seas and reckless slaughter
And by my side would be the captain’s daughter
He might use me for cannon fodder
Still I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
He might keel haul me in ocean water
Still I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
I’ll not die in the arms of another
I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
I wish I could walk with her
On some tropical shore far away
And the ways I dream of her
While I do my mundane chores every day
But at night I lie alone in my bunk
Knowing all my hopes are probably sunk
He might use me for cannon fodder
Still I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
He might keel haul me in ocean water
Still I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
I’ll not die in the arms of another
I’m in love with the captain’s daughter
