The Pide (Turkish Pizza) was topped with many different toppings, but the best and most delicious one had Pastrami, Beef, Onions, and Turkish Sausage, with an excessive amount of butter, and then a raw egg cracked inside to make the taste extremely delicious.

Beautiful Scenery | Boring Sandwich | Exploring Istanbul with a local

Baby Lamb Intestine Sandwich | Turkish Food | Kokoreç
This Kokoreç was amazing! A true classic Turkish food! It's a dish of Antolia and the Balkins, but has now become a staple Istanbul street food to try. Made with baby lamb intestines and throat and wrapped up, then chopped into a sandwich. Please like: www.facebook.com/foodrangin
This Kokoreç intestine was cleaned thoroughly, as it should be. I had tried it a few times before on the streets in Istanbul, and eventually chose this location as my local buddy brought me here and told me it was a true Kokoreç, nothing over the top fancy, yet nothing too dirty and run down.
Intestines are a food that you should try once, and you will either love it or hate it, depending on how they are cooked. For me, if the intestines are cleaned thoroughly and spiced like they were, it's a flavour I can get used to and actually enjoy. For others, it's harder to get your head around and totally understandable.
This is a true Turkish cuisine and enjoyed by many locals out on many street corners in Istanbul, often after a few beers, as these Kokoreç stands are open late into the night on the Istanbul streets and the grease and fat really can soothe many party-goers.

Turkish Street Food and High Class Dumplings in Istanbul

In Istanbul, I tried many street foods and cuisines. Turkish cuisine brought me a lot of joy during my 3 week stay, so I decided to first film these dumplings alongside the stuffed mussels. BEAUTIFUL!
I went to both locations with my local friend who also filmed the entire eating process and gave the recommendations about where to eat this delicious Turkish cuisine.
The first location was at Bodrum Manti Cafe, eating traditional antolian dumplings.

After eating the dumplings, I was pretty full, but needed to eat some street food, so we went for Midye Dolma, beautiful stuffed mussels that can be found on many street corners in Istanbul.
This doner kebab is a classic Turkish Food, a favourite of Istanbul locals. There is so many istanbul foods to try, but this one was one of my first. It was juicy and dripping red juice as the chef cut away layer after layer of heavenly lamb. You can find this as a turkish street food on the corners or you can have it at high class restaurants overlooking the city. I went for the middleground, and went to an average place that was recommended by a local friend.
In actuality, he told me that he has had better doner, but we had to settle for this one because the place with the best doner was closed for ramadan. As my first try of doner kebab and one of my first tries of Istanbul food, I was really happy with the outcome. Juicy, nice lamb flavour, just the right amount of fat, a little crunchy from pickles, and a good amount of mayo to give it that nice extra kick. BOOM!
The only complaint I had was the wrap was a little too much bread, I like a full mouthful of meat and less bread, but this had like half and half.
This restaurant was in besiktas. The famous place for doner that we wanted to go was here:

Amazing Far West Chinese Food | Xinjiang Kebabs and Pumpkin Baozi
In China's far western city of Urumqi (the capital of Xinjiang), the food becomes less Chinese and more Middle eastern. Here you find Muslim cuisine that shows just how diverse China really is. I was super lucky to try the lamb kebabs cooked on the street on my way back to Chengdu from Turkey.

I had a quick layover on my way back home to Chengdu from Istanbul in Urumqi. There was only one thing to do, eat Xinjiang food and compare the Kebabs to the Turkish kebab that was still in my stomach from the night before.
The total cost was 50 RMB ($7.87) for 3 awesome dishes:
5 Huge lamb kebabs
4 huge steamed pumpkin baozi
and one massive rounang bun filled with juicy lamb and onion
All in all, the food here was super delicious, except for the lamb kebabs. Ironically, I came specifically to try them, but they ended up being the least delicious of the three. The rounang took the number one spot and was crowned the most delicious Xinjiang food I tried in my very very short stay in Urumqi.

Eating A Huge Turkish Breakfast in Istanbul

We went to the local Turkish Breakfast joint just up the hill from the Galata tower in Taksim, just down the street from Taksim square. It was called Van Kahvaltı Evi. We paid 60 TL for a full breakfast for two, complete with way too much food. Their menu was really extensive, and offered many local specialty foods. Here are some of the local foods that we tried on the street while enjoying the Istanbul lifestyle.
Turkish sausage + Scrambled eggs + Tomatoes
Pastrami fried eggs
Fried wheat flour
Tahini Molasses
Assorted cheeses
Tomatoes + Cucumbers
Nutella
Clotted cream
Sundried tomato paste
Turkish tea
Olives
And we were full! It was truly a wonderful meal! I fell in love with Turkish cuisine more and more after every meal I ate, and found Turkish people to be very friendly and hospitable. If you're thinking about visiting Turkey, go travel there for sure! If you are a local, you know that Turkey has some of the best food in the world!

Dirty and Delicious Streetside Meals And Snacks | Sichuan, China
Eating local street food and street meals in China is always a bit risky. If you find a good place thats dirty and hygienic at the same time, you've struck gold. This place was just that, dirty on the outside, but woks frying so hot that you're guaranteed an awesome meal.

We ordered all the classic Sichuan food's, Mapo tofu, La zi ji (deep fried chicken with deep fried red and green chilies), A super delicious Sichuan broadbean paste river carp (WOW!), Zhe er gen (it's a root eaten here that actually tastes a bit fishy and spicy at the same time, not bad if you like strange and strong flavours), pigs foot, fried eggs and tomatoes, and century eggs in a chili oil.
This restaurant was found near 一环路南一段, give that address to a taxi driver and you will find it!
After this amazing meal, we went for a dessert of "lamb steaks", super juicy and a strong cumin flavour, just amazing! I fell in love at the first bite, really!

Dan Dan Noodles and Stinky Tofu With a Local Girl in Chengdu
Jinli street features some of Chengdu's most famous street foods. We came to shoot the Sichuan foods that tourists eat, and let me tell you, the food wasn't bad (not quite as amazing as some other lesser known places, but still good), in particular, the stinky tofu was pretty nice.

My good friend Chuchu came along for the eating experience. We sampled 6 snacks on the street. The Dan dan noodles were OK, but the stinky tofu ended up being quite nice, apart from the slight slight stench that it gave off, it was very satisfying, mostly from the garlic chili sauce it was soaked in.
We also sampled Yi Gen Mian (One noodle) , which was basically a really long noodle with a knot in the end in a classic spicy beef noodle soup broth with lots of cilantro.
All the snacks were delicious. The San Da Pao (three cannons) glutinous rice balls soaked in red sugar were nice too, and very fun to watch being made.
All in all, the Sichuan foods found here at Jinli street were fun to try and fun to film. I would recommend coming here if you are on a short trip to Chengdu and want to experience some quick street snacks without having to source out every single location. Everything was mostly pretty good. The best part about Jinli is the atmosphere and the fun of walking through a rebuilt old street with a classic China feel.

Chinese Food: Eating Sichuan Hot Pot in Chengdu With A Local Girl!
TRUE CHINESE FOOD! Eating Hot Pot in Sichuan is a MUST do thing if you visit. I also got to enjoy it with a local Chinese girl, one who also loves to eat, a wonderful experience!

The first thing we had to eat, although not technically Sichuan food, was a Chinese pastry, called huoshao, filled with a juicy, meaty, wonderful filling that was served fresh from the oven. We were super lucky to get the first ones right out of the oven after lining up for around 20 minutes. This place was found just behind Chunxi lu (Chunxi road) in Chengdu's downtown Core.
After feasting on that beautiful snack, we had to go for the real meal, the true authentic Sichuan food, Hot Pot. This is the first time I have showcased Sichuan Hot Pot in my videos. I was waiting for the right time to showcase it, and after searching for a good location and also a good partner to eat it with me (hot pot is not a one person meal), I was set to film!
Sichuan Hot Pot is basically a huge wok filled with hot chili oil and copious amounts of Sichuan chili peppers and Sichuan numbing peppers. You place raw ingredients like raw sliced beef and raw lotus root into this boiling chili oil, and then when it's ready to eat, they take on the flavour of the substance they are boiled in. It gets spicier over time. After 40 minutes of eating hot pot, you notice that it is much much spicier than it was when you first started eating.
As my friend points out in the video, eating hotpot at night with friends is the true lifestyle of Chengdu people. Eating hot pot is what you do when you want to go out with friends and relax after work and enjoy some beautiful food (美食). They literally do call it beautiful food here, that's the lifestyle!

Amazing Hand Pulled Noodles in China | Chinese Muslim Food

Lanzhou Lamian AKA Lanzhou hand pulled noodles are everywehere, and each restaurant has a very similar menu. These restaurants are usually very good for foreigners in China because they often have a huge picture menu all over the walls, so you can just point at what you think looks good. In this video, me and my local friend try two very amazing dishes. The dapanji also known as the Xinjiang big plate of beef, and then my other favourite noodle dish, the lamb and cumin on top of hand pulled noodles. These two dishes combined made a massive meal for two people.
So if you're a foreigner living in China or if you're just traveling in China for a short time, visiting a lanzhou hand pulled noodles restaurant is a MUST!
This restaurant was found in Chengdu near the SWUFE university, near the 3rd north gate (北三门). You can definitely find it, it's the blue one.

Must Try Sichuan Food | Chinese Firewood Chicken
This is a MUST try Sichuan food! Believe me! In Sichuan, Food is the meaning of life. These Sichuan flavours brought brought joy to all.

I've been living in Sichuan for nearly a year now, and I've tried most of the famous Sichuan foods. Mapo Doufu, Twice cooked pork, Kung Pao chicken, all the snacks, all the noodles, and all classics that you try when you first get here. But I wanted something new, something delicious and exciting and life changing. I asked my local Chengdu friend Chuchu for her recommendation, and she pointed us in the direction of this amazing Sichuan Firewood Chicken AKA "Chaihuoji".
We took a bus ride about 45 minutes outside of Chengdu to an area they found that had the most classic Firewood Chicken. I was hesitant at first because there was no one eating there, but Chuchu assured me this was the best place, and that people usually don't come all this way outside on the weekends, but during the weekdays it's always busy.
The first thing you have to do is talk to the chef and choose a chicken that you like, and they will kill it for you. Unfortunately, they told us that the butcher who usually does that work was off for the afternoon so we had to choose a chicken killed earlier that morning. That was OK, but I was hoping to get it on footage to make for an interesting video.
They clean the chicken for you and then prepare all the classic Sichuan ingredients. Doubanjiang "Broad bean paste", dried chilies, fresh chilies, ginger, garlic, potatoes, taro, and bamboo shoots.
The essence of the flavour comes from the Doubanjiang paste, which is a little spicy and almost a little creamy when combined with the oil and all the other ingredients. The result was astounding. Never have I tasted something so satisfying as when I dipped that crispy yet gooey flatbread into the juicy heavens and then took a bite. It was mind blowing, something I have only dreamed of in Sichuan food. Although a little pricey for this meal (45$), this is a meal that I will keep coming back for during special occasions and gatherings with friends.
The address was a little hard to find, but if you're up for a Sichuan adventure you can give this address to the taxi, its a bit of a drive from Chengdu!

Down And Dirty Local Food In Sichuan

A fly restaurant is one that is not very clean, but the food is delicious. While the surroundings may not be very well kept, the food is prepared by expert chefs and the flavours are awesome. This Sichuan food is some of the best I've had so far.
The pig brain was actually pretty good! I've had pig brain a few times before and this version was prepared in a way that took away that gross factor and just gave it a nice, mushy, melt in your mouth, spice explosion that was also fragrant at the same time. Not too bad. Apart from that we ordered a massive carp simmering in thousands of chiles and sichuan peppercorns, a pork leg in a salty gravy, and these awesome red sugar puffy buns. So tasty!
Sichuan food is definitely some of the best in China, and if you're in Chengdu and looking for a real local place with delicious food, you need to come to Ming Ting, here is the address:

I made a weekend trip to Pengzhou, a small satellite town of Chengdu, in search of food and adventure. What I found, here at this street stall, was nothing short of magic. I'm actually fairly fond of tripe, as it has a clean and simple taste that's really nice when combined with chilies and cilantro.
So I was walking around with a friend, and we had the goal to eat and shoot some Chinese street food, a local street snack, but were unsure of what to shoot. As we walked past this smiling guy, cutting away at tripe and tongue and heart, I knew we found the spot.
So I put my camera bag down on a table beside the stall and approached him and asked him if he would mind if we could film a food segment of his stall. He smiled and replied "no problem, of course!", and was super happy to be filmed! The guy was just so happy and full of good energy that it really made the whole experience that much better.
I asked for his recommendation, and he made me a classic fuqifeipian, a famous Chinese street food in Sichuan that you can find all throughout the local neighbourhoods. It was chewy, spicy, salty, numbing, florally, and had a strong cilantro flavour throughout, which really made my day.

Pandas Playing at Chengdu Panda Reserve | Chengdu, What To Do?
Pandas playing and eating bamboo at the Chengdu Panda reserve. CUTE! You can see cute baby pandas playing on a slide, playfighting, drinking milk, and climbing trees too. They are so cute!
When in Chengdu, you must visit the Panda Research Base. The Panda Breeding centre has over 90 pandas, red pandas, and is in a beautiful park with over 200 acres of land to explore. There are giant pandas in all life stages, from baby to adult. The pandas are fed around 08:00 in the morning, and eat mostly bamboo. The adults are fed apples and also "panda bread", which is made of oats, rice, and vitamins. All of the pandas are cared for very well at this research facility and have a very good life!
Watching the pandas eating bamboo was actually really funny as well as cute. The pandas are so simple, incredibly lazy, and seem to be so happy with their life. They just lay around all day! Their lives are definitely better than ours! The baby pandas playing around was the most cute though, as they were play fighting, climbing trees, and some pandas even fell from the trees as they climbed, yet seemed unharmed and happy after the fall.
At present (May 2015) , holding a panda or sitting next to a panda is not possible. I believe there was an incident in the past and now they do not let you hold them anymore.
Make sure to arrive early (07:30 is when the gates open) to buy your ticket for 58 RMB ($9.60), as the pandas are sleepy after eating bamboo and the panda research base also fills up with people, lots of people, later in the day. Many people like taking a tour to the panda base, but I recommend taking a taxi early. No need to pay extra for nothing. Also, coming here after 10 or 10:30 is not worth it in my opinion.
Not only is it a research base, it's also a museum and conservation centre. You will enjoy your time here!
To get here, tell a taxi driver "熊猫基地" "xiongmao jidi". You can copy the characters onto a piece of paper or copy and paste the text from here and print it out onto a piece of paper and give it to your taxi driver. The fare should be around 60RMB or less from the city centre to the panda base.

Chinese Street Food and Snacks | Sichuan Salted Duck and Local Specialties
Chinese Street Food is not always served from street vendors, sometimes, it's found in family run shops in ancient alleyways that have been there for generations. Kind of like take out Chinese street food. Pleas like: www.facebook.com/foodrangin
This duck is commonly found on the street, hanging on long bamboo poles throughout Sichuan. I was super lucky to be able to try it from a family run joint that has been making this duck for generations! The local snacks that I tried afterwards were just mind blowing, especially the cold chicken sliver noodles.
I had to leave Chengdu to find this local duck, in Pengzhou, where street food is plenty and ducks like this can be found all throughout the city, whether in family run shops like this, or hanging over the sidewalk ready to be served.

Real Chinese Food | Tofu Brain | Sweet Skin Duck | World's largest Buddha!
The little town of Leshan, with a population of only ~2 million, is a few hours drive from Chengdu, Sichuan, and has the world's largest Buddha and some of the most tastiest street snacks in China!

In Leshan, the worlds largest buddha is only one of the things you can do. I highly recommend going to the food street beside the main river and trying out these two dishes : 甜皮鸭 Tianpiya, the sweet skinned duck, and a bowl of 豆腐脑 tofu brain. Both were extremely satisfying and worth the drive alone.
The tofu brain cost only 8rmb/ bowl (just over a dollar), and the duck was only 26 RMB for the half duck, around 5 dollars.

Chongqing Street Food With Locals | Sweet Potato Noodles
Chinese food is awesome! In Chongqing, you can find Chinese street food and all sorts of local specialties everywhere you go. These noodles were found in a tourist area yet had very local taste!

I was planning a trip to Chongqing for only one day, and did not intend on making a video, but just try all of the food as my time would be too limited. However, after sitting down in an alley to eat some street food; noodles, there were two girls beside me also eating the same noodles. I asked them if they always eat these and if they liked them, and then we started talking. It turned out that they had the whole day to explore and wanted to show me around. After a few hours traveling around with them, they told me that they both study videography and broadcasting in school, and then I mentioned my hobby of eating food and making videos. They were more than happy to help me out with this quick video before I caught my train that evening at 7:00.
If you visit Chongqing, you must see this little ancient town, known as little Chongqing, or as Ciqikou porcelain village. An ancient porcelain production spot, market town, and port. Now it is well preserved and has a lot of local specialty snacks. You can reach Ciqikou village very easy by taking subway line 1 and getting off at ciqikou station, it's that easy!
Chongqing is famous for it's hot pot and street food. There are so many things to try, and in my one day there, I can only say that I barely touched the surface. These suanlafen noodles were on the top of my list of food to try in Chongqing, as all my friends told me it was the most important thing to eat in Chongqing. The broth was sour, spicy, pungent, and the noodles were squishy, almost gooey, combined with the crunchiness of the soy beans and the tenderness of the big chunks of beef. What a nice meal!

We ate over 23 dishes, all of which were extremely delicious and addictive! As the year of the horse comes to an end, and the year of the sheep begins, hundreds of millions of Chinese travel home to spend the Lunar New Year holiday with their families in the world's biggest annual migration. This is witnessed across China in busy train stations and bus terminals. I decided to stay in Chengdu for the new year, and to my happiness, the city emptied and the skies turned blue.
I was invited to eat a feast with some Chengdu locals and couldn't be happier! This was a perfect time to experience the true Chinese New Year tradition. We ate over 23 dishes, most of which had Szechuan flavours infused, spicy, numbing, oily, and so satisfying. The family that invited me was so friendly and inviting, this experience couldn't be better.
After feasting and filling ourselves to the point of barely being able to walk (well maybe that was just me), we went back to their home and watched the Chinese New Years Eve Gala on CCTV1, waiting for midnight to strike. At midnight, we went outside and witnessed hundreds of people lighting fireworks and firecrackers. We had to take part too!
All in all, this Chinese New Year experience was amazing beyond belief, mostly because of the amount of food that we ate, and the chance to eat with locals in Chengdu was just too good.

Chengdu, What to do? You MUST visit Wenshuyuan Temple! | Epic Buddhist Temple
In Chengdu, there is one Buddhist temple you must to see, the Wenshuyuan temple. It is full of ancient 1400 year old towers, halls, pagodas, and temples, just waiting to be explored.

Wenshuyuan temple is a great place to spend the afternoon exploring. There are so many different temples to explore and walk through, along with a huge park that you can walk through enjoying the fresh air.
Getting here is super easy. Just get off at Wenshuyuan 文殊院 station on subway line 1 in Chengdu, and take exit K. Go left and walk until you reach the temple, you can't miss it.

To find this location, come to Wenshuyuan 文殊院 in Chengdu. The food outside the temple is awesome. If you want to try the food inside, come around 12PM or 5pm and lineup inside the temple for some free food. Too be honest, the food inside the temple wasn't that flavourful, but it was an amazing experience to eat in there and gain a glimpse of what the monks eat.

Mountain Food in China | "Lamb Skewers" and Instant Noodles
Arriving in West Sichuan was a breath of fresh air compared to Chengdu. Huge mountains, fresh food, and very friendly people. I found this little shack on a day hike and enjoyed their "lamb skewers".

I had an amazing trip to the Siguniangshan mountain range, just a 7 hour bus ride west of Chemgdu. The air was unbelievably fresh, and the food was delicious too. After hiking for around 4 hours in the Changping valley, we arrived at a friendly shack where a lady was selling fresh and spicy lamb skewers and instant noodles. We couldn't say no, we were just so hungry from our hike!

Chunxi Lu is arguably the main shopping road in Chengdu that is full of youthful energy and offers everything from budget to luxury goods. It's definitely worth a visit!

Juicy Pork Baozi in Chengdu- Mindblowing! 包子
Baozi are a specialty in China and have many different varieties. I found my favourite variety here in Chengdu, where the bun is just slightly numbing and so juicy and fresh.

I was so happy to find these steamed baozi 包子 buns in Chengdu, they were so juicy and a little numbing. Watching them make them by hand and pinch the bun together is really satisfying.
The dough is made from scratch and mixed thoroughly in a mixer and then laid out flat on the table. It's covered with a little oil and then cut into strips which are then rolled smooth. Clumps of dough are then picked off and covered in flour and then flattened. Once flattened, they are filled with their specialty filling. In China, there are so many varieties, but here in Chengdu I managed to find my favourite.
The filling is made of fresh pork, pork fat, green onions, sichuan peppercorn, cooking wine, and chicken stock. Once its added to the flat dough it is all pinched together and steamed for about 10 minutes, and served steaming hot! So Delicious!

Amazing Tibetan Food Feast - Eating In A Tibetan Home!
This Tibetan food in West Sichuan was THE BEST food I've had in China. Super heavy and extremely flavourful. I was super lucky to be able to eat at this family's home.

I felt lucky and grateful to visit this Tibetan home in West Sichuan, near the Siguniang mountain range. The Tibetan food was all delicious, and to experience the Tibetan culture was really an amazing experience!
I came to try the food and hike the mountains, and was staying at a guesthouse that was recommended by a friend in Chengdu (A Lee Ben Guesthouse). It was really slow and only had around 5 guests because it's not a very famous winter destination for Chinese people, which made the whole experience much better!
Every evening, instead of eating in the guesthouse, I was invited to eat with the family, which made various fresh Tibetan food that was a treat to experience and to taste!
I told the owner about my plans for finding and filming some delicious Tibetan food and asked him where I should go to eat it (Since I didn't want to burden his family by asking if I could film).
He mentioned that there is lots of delicious food in the area (Yak Meat, Tibetan Butter Tea, Blood Sausage, Cured Pork, and Wild Mushrooms), but that I didn't need to go hunt around, and invited me to eat AND film at his home with his family for some local food!
At this point I was extremely excited and happy to be able to eat and film local Tibetan food with this family. There was a wood fired wok, as well as a wood stove, which really brought a feel of authenticity to the whole experience. The butter tea was made in a long churn with tons of yak butter and was super sour, salty, and satisfying.
Eating the yak meat was also a really amazing experience. It was really chewy and had a smoky flavour to it but also tasted really earthy. It was covered in spice and Sichuan peppercorn which added a really nice touch to the flavour.
The most unique thing that I ate there was the Zanba, which was made by hand by the grandfather in the Tibetan family. A wild highland barley flour mixed with ghee was added to a nearly empty cup of Tibetan butter tea and mixed thoroughly with his middle finger. The tea mixed in with the butter and Zanba flour was squeezed into a finger sized nugget. These were super sour, salty, pasty, and dry, and were super high in calories from all the Tibetan yak butter.
After the meal I was full and really thankful to have such a wonderful experience. I gave a huge thank you to the grandfather as well as the son who arranged the whole meal for me.
So you're ever in Sichuan province and you want to see some mountains and experience some local Tibetan culture, make sure to come to the Siguniangshan mountain range, just a 7 hour drive west of Chengdu. Amazing mountains, beautiful landscapes, and an authentic place to experience Tibetan culture. Getting there is easy, just take 06:30 am bus from Chengdu Chadianzi bus terminal and get of at the Changping bridge (about 6 hours into the trip.) There are plenty of guesthouses in the area and any will likely be sufficient, but I really enjoyed where I stayed.
