Israel banning Al Jazeera carries consequences for the peace process. KernowDamo 46.5K subscribers Apr 4, 2024 UNITED KINGDOM Israel's new law effectively banning Al Jazeera for daring to cover the truth of the Gaza conflict, could harm the peace process too. Right, so as far as media coverage of what has been going on in Gaza for the last several months has gone, the world has been heavily reliant on the risks taken, their lives on the line and too often lost by both independent journalists and those who work for Al Jazeera, Israel’s deliberate targeting of journalists a war crime, western journlaists not so keen to be on the ground, the days of Kate Aidie in a vest and helmet with bombs going off around her long gone, you can’t see Laura Kuenssberg doing that can you? But of course their footage, their coverage has been relentlessly exposing in line with the harrowing footage we’ve all been seeing on social media, what the reality has been in Gaza for the Gazan people and has in no small part played a leading role in seeing public opinion shift against Israel, shift against Netanyahu’s regime, so the faux accusations of antisemitism now fall on deaf ears, seen as the genocidal state it really is at last. Little wonder therefore, that Netanyahu has now passed a law, to ban Al Jazeera, but banning them from Israel is one thing, banning them from Gaza is another and they’ve vowed their coverage must continue, will continue because the truth must be reported, but could this also hamper the peace process itself as well? Right, so Al Jazeera, I’ve used them as source material for much of my Israel Gaza coverage, because it’s been amongst the best out there and how could it not be, when their people are on the ground, risking their lives and losing them in too many cases for the sake of ensuring the truth of the atrocities there get out. For months it’s been clear that Israel have been deliberately targeting journalists in Gaza against international law, protected as they are by it, in order to stop them from reporting and the only reason any side in any conflict would wish harm upon journalists is if you are doing something you know you shouldn’t be doing and do not want it reported. Shielded as Israel has been by too many other states, too often a blind eye is cast to this, the only accountability being shown coming from the global public observing these incidents and condemning them on social media, all part of turning opinion against Israel and not without good reason. Now we know Israel have no intentions of stopping this, they are determined that what they are doing is right and just and they have every right to be doing it because Hamas, but they don’t, they’re in violation of resolutions and regulations they are signed up to, we know all of this by now, so what have they got left to swing public opinion? Cut off the journalists. Right, so thoughts and prayers. It’s the immediate reaction to a politician offering condolences to families who have lost loved ones through some heinous act or another, but lacking sincerity with it. Very much a statement of, I’m sorry for your loss, but I’m only saying so because I have to, not because I mean it. When it comes to British citizens being killed in the line of duty, putting their lives on the line for others, making the ultimate sacrifice as it were, doing what they love and making a difference, the sort of thing most of our politicians would never do, never dream of, their aspirations being far more concerned with money and power and how to get them, I’m not sure many of them can even comprehend such selflessness. Yesterday brought the news of an attack on World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza, amongst the 7 killed were three Britons. Now I put out a video on this yesterday and at time of writing, neither main party had responded, but around the time the video went out, some responses had come in, but in the case of Keir Starmer, he opted for one of those thoughts and prayers statements, it was so pathetic as to be offensive, it means nothing when its not backed up by any intent to have words with Israel and given how much he owes to the Israel Lobby, it means he probably can’t and if that’s the case now, that will be the case if he gets into power too. Right, so big story from yesterday and rightfully so given that 3 Britons were killed by the IDF trying to deliver aid in Gaza, despite the Israeli authorities being aware of their movements. I covered this story yesterday as far as details were available, but since then it’s become known that the 7 people killed were travelling in 3 vehicles and each of them had been targeted in turn meaning this was no accident but a deliberate act of violence against aid workers protected under international law. The first vehicle was hit and people fled that car, got into the one behind before that was hit. A third vehicle a kilometre behind was then hit as well. Far be it from me to ever want to give a media wombat like Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain props given his gaffe prone idiocy, but I can’t fault his description of this today as an execution, because I completely agree. Israel has made no effort to ensure aid gets through as ordered of it, has left it’s settlers to block road deliveries and now that aid is beginning to get in by sea as this aid here had done, those attempting to now deliver it are killed. Israel is a rogue state hell bent on genocide, seemingly determined to eliminate the people of Gaza who are starving to death and those still supporting Israel and especially those still arming them, need to get real. The big tech companies have waged war on anyone deemed to be spreading misinformation, and more and more we’re seeing the mainstream media outlets fail to dig deep on issues that are crying out for answers. One such story that deserves widespread attention, and should be of huge concern to anyone in the western world is the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines. On top of all that is happening in the world, this winter has seen an energy crisis that has deeply impacted so many across Europe and beyond, as soaring prices have left most counting the cost. On 26 September 2022, a series of clandestine bombings and subsequent underwater gas leaks occurred on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipelines. The pipelines were built to transport natural gas from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, and are majority owned by Gazprom. The mainstream narrative claims the perpetrators and the motives were at best unknown and open to debate. But, not as far as today’s guest is concerned. He is something of a legendary figure in the world of news reporting and has spent much of the last 50 years elbow-deep in some of the biggest and oftentimes most controversial stories of the day. I’m talking of course about Seymour Hersh, the investigative journalist, political writer and author, who among his many accolades was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting. Seymour believes that the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines was carried out by the US Navy, the CIA, and the Norwegian Navy, under the direct order of President Biden. To say this has caused a stir in the corridors of power would be something of an understatement Seymour has had a long and storied career having first written for The New Yorker back in 1971. He spent time on the Presidential campaign of Eugene J. McCarthy as a speech writer and press secretary, before joining the New York Times in 1972. Seymour gained widespread recognition for exposing the My Lai Massacre and its cover-up during the Vietnam War. In the 1970s, he covered the Watergate scandal for The New York Times and revealed the clandestine bombing of Cambodia. In 2004, he reported on the US military’s mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison, while his endeavours to uncover the circumstances of Osama Bin Laden’s death saw him caught in the crosshairs as he accused the Obama administration of lying systematically about the killing, something he suggested American media outlets were reluctant to challenge.

We are reaching out to Israel’s government to get more information,” she told reporters. But she went on to blame Hamas, saying the Palestinian group was using the hospital as a base. “We also have to call out Hamas here. They are operating out of hospitals – out of hospitals. That’s what they’re doing. They’re embedding themselves in the civilian population,” Jean-Pierre said. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller echoed Jean-Pierre’s statement, but he added that Israel’s campaign at al-Shifa underscores US advice for Israel to create a plan to bring stability to Gaza. “It’s not enough to just clear certain neighbourhoods or hospitals or any other geographic areas or buildings of Hamas. They need to have a long-term, sustainable strategy that is not just a security strategy but also a political strategy,” Miller said.
