The six audio describers for the opening and closing ceremony are from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, which runs a program to provide a service for the visually impaired. Every match at this World Cup has been staffed with audio describers, with live narration in English and Arabic for the visually impaired. Audiences are able to listen to the game by simply downloading a phone app and entering a match code.

Third Guangdong-Macao power transmission line enters operation
The third power transmission line from south China's Guangdong Province to the Macao Special Administrative Region went into operation on November 25. The 10.3-km underground cable connects Guangdong's Zhuhai City and Macao. Macao's total electricity consumption in 2021 was 5.649 billion kilowatt-hours, of which 90 percent came from the China Southern Power Grid. The third line will enhance power transmission capacity by 30 percent to 1.7 million kilowatt-hours. The Chinese mainland began supplying electricity to Macao in 1984, and to date, annual power transmission has increased 26-fold since 1999.

New insect species discovered in China's Wuyishan National Park
A new insect species has been found during a three-year background survey of biological resources in Wuyishan National Park, which straddles the provinces of Jiangxi and Fujian in east China.
"Ectinoderus sinicus" belongs to the Ectinoderini tribe within the largest assassin bug subfamily Harpactorinae. Ectinoderini comprises two genera and 21 species distributed in the Oriental and Northern Australasian regions. Due to their remarkable habit of collecting and utilizing exogenous plant resin to capture their prey, members of this genus are sometimes called "resin bugs."

The team, with all members over 60 years old, volunteered to have a routine check for nuclear radiation in Fukushima. Masami Aoki, 77 and a former media worker, is one of the persons in charge of the team founded in 2012. Over the past 10 years, Aoki has worked with his team to examine nuclear radiation levels near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, including Futaba Machi and Minamisoma.
28,000 runners compete in Xiamen Marathon
The 2022 Xiamen Marathon and National Marathon Championships kicked off on Sunday morning in east China's Xiamen City with 28,000 runners. As one of China's top marathons, the race attracted over 100 outstanding contestants, and the male runners finished the race within 2:35:00 and five female runners did so within 2:50:00. Feng Peiyou claimed the men's title in 2:13:53. In the women's race, Li Jingfen hit the line first at 2:36:14. The first five male and female runners of the event will qualify for the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships.

Annual crude oil production in China's Tarim oilfield hits record high
Annual crude oil production from China's Tarim oilfield has reached 6.6 million tonnes this year, hitting a record high. New wells in the Hade-Fuman section of the oilfield have seen production rising rapidly at an annual rate of 500,000 tonnes. Tarim oilfield has put 115 new wells into production this year and finished drilling 30 wells to a depth of 8,000 meters.
