First our little adopted blackbird lady had a heart pattern on her chest feathers. As she grew up it changed into a medieval-looking king's cross! A commenter on her old Youtube channel wrote: @MetricCaboose1 4 years ago I don’t know how I found this video, but gosh do I love that bird.

Bertie caught her first fly, then seemed to drop the ball on estimating how fast off the mark they actually are! Then she'd clumsily telegraph her approach...oh well, that first one was probably just a sleepy morning fly...

Bertie WIngster had all the best bird instincts for survival!

After her release we'd see her and her whole family over on the silver shed, wings and tails spread out trustingly, just enjoying the Summer New Zealand Sun...

Flies were her favorite, not ants. When we swatted them we'd given them straight to her off the fly-swatter and she would stack them in her beak just like in nature! As for shoes, she seemed to see them as enemies which had temporarily captured our feet...she despised and would attack them!
