Ukrainian soldiers find field full of abandoned Russian tanks after invaders 'fled their post'
Ukrainian soldiers found a field full of Russian tanks and other 'trophies' after the invaders 'simply fled' their post on Monday.
The Russian armoured vehicles were found in a field in the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv Oblast.
Ukrainian soldiers found that the area had been abandoned by the Russian aggressors, who reportedly fled their post and left behind military hardware for their foes to take advantage of in the defence of the country.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released the images on March 6, saying: 'Mykolaiv region. The paratroopers of the Russian aggressor simply fled.'
The Ukrainian Armed Forces added: 'New trophies for our Ukrainian defenders.'
In the footage, a surprised Ukrainian defender films an apparently abandoned tank before panning across the whole field and showing several other armoured vehicles.
Several colleagues walk around the allegedly abandoned Russian vehicles to make sure the area is clear of enemy soldiers.
Meanwhile, in the neighbouring region of Kherson Oblast, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said they have taken control of a Ukrainian military base with tanks, ammo and other 'trophies' on the same day.
The MoD claimed on March 6: 'The Ukrainian military left their positions in a hurry, leaving the base with equipment, weapons and ammunition. The base was located on an area of six to seven hectares. Among the trophies found are Ukrainian T-64 and T-80 tanks, armoured personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, and Ural (general purpose) vehicles.
'A few metres from the car park is a large hangar housing an ammunition depot with mines, anti-tank guided missiles, mortar and tank shells, over 4,500 tons of ammunition. Some of the weapons stored on the street are rocket projectiles for multiple rocket launchers.'
The Russian MoD said the facility was probably used to train soldiers as well as house around 4,000 personnel. It said: 'Mortar ammunition and high-explosive fragmentation shells were also nearby. Presumably, various units were trained here - marines, sappers, signalmen, tankers and gunners.'

Biden banned Russian energy imports, but will Putin flinch? | Fox News Rundown
Having grown up in the Soviet Union, former Defense Intelligence Agency Officer Rebekah Koffler is familiar with Putin’s goals for the country. She joins to discuss her book, 'Putin’s Playbook: Russia’s Secret Plan to Defeat America,' the resilience of Ukraine, and why she thinks sanctions aren’t enough to end Putin’s pursuit of war.
President Biden announced a ban on Russian energy imports including oil, natural gas, and coal. The president says this ban will target “the main artery of Russia's economy,” however the move is not without consequences domestically. U.S. gasoline prices rose to a new national record as global crude oil prices climbed as well. Fox Business Anchor David Asman joins to explain how the Russians could potentially find ways around U.S. energy sanctions, which policies are contributing to record-high gas prices in addition to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and why it's essential the Biden administration focus on producing more oil domestically instead of reaching out to countries like Venezuela or Saudi Arabia.
Plus, commentary by Jimmy Failla, host of "Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla.”
