The fire was quickly contained and extinguished by firefighters, who discovered the blaze in an outer storage area of the restaurant.
According to reports, the fire's origin may be linked to transients who had a warming fire against the building in the same area earlier, as noted by local security agents. However, fire officials are still investigating the incident and working to confirm the exact cause and origin of the fire.
Sammy's Restaurant, which has been an iconic presence on Del Paso Boulevard since its opening in 1944, suffered significant setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to neighbors.
