Silverton to Creede - Part 2
Getting back on the trail after our first town stop in Silverton, Colorado. this is one incredible section of the trail with outstanding views. We pass the high point for the Colorado Trail in this section as well. most of the time we are at or near 12,000 ft, and the hiking and camping is unreal.
Thanks for watching!!!

Durango to Silverton - Part 2
August 12th, 2021 is the day I've been planning and waiting for since I stepped off the Arizona Trail in November of 2020. I thought about which trail I was going to attempt after hiking the AZT and I decided on the Colorado Trail. After tons of planning and counting down the days the hike is finally starting.
I spent two full days in Durango and hoped it might help me acclimate a little bit for the extreme elevations I'm about to head into.
my friend Steve aka, The "Bionic Man" is also joining me on this crazy Northbound attempt of the Colorado Trail!!! Let's Go!!!!

River to River Trail 2021 - Days 7 & 8
Day seven turns out to be my best day for distance. I ended up 8.2 miles from the end of the trail when I got to camp that evening. It was a beautiful hike from the moment I started that morning at the Rocky Top campsite and walking through all the builder fields was amazing. It was also a bonus to walk by the church with the snacks and refrigerator and then, later on, to be able to get some sodas and ice cream at the high knob store.
Day eight was a very short hiking day as I made it to the terminus at 10:25 in the morning which was really great since my goal was to arrive by noon. I parked next to the sheriff's office and they were very nice about showing me where to park and checking me in basically.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time on this trail even though I hiked it as fast as I could. I would definitely recommend hiking this trail if you only have 8 or 9 days to do a trip. Be ready to do some road walking, I'm not sure exactly how many miles it ended up being but I would estimate around 40 miles for the 160-mile trail.

River to River Trail 2021 - Days 5 & 6
A couple of really great days on the trail despite the rain. This part of the trail was super muddy due to all the rain and horse traffic on these sections.
On day six I got off the trail so many times that I was only able to do 18-miles on the trail even though I did at least 20 to 21 miles. There were several re-routes where I got turned around for a while and later on I walked right by a turn-off and walked an extra mile on the road.
At the end of day six, I wound up at the best campsite of the entire trip. I had a really great view from the tent and was able to leave the doors open all night and enjoy the stars. I also made it to cache number 2 near Eddyville and resupplied for the rest of the trip. Hike on!!!

River to River Trail 2021 - Days 3 & 4
It's been a rainy couple of days on the trail but I'm making really good miles each day and make it past the halfway point in the middle of day 4 and reach the 85-mile mark at the end of the day.
The hardest part of the trail has been the road walking and the hellacious mud bogs on the trail. This is also a popular place for people to ride horses so the trail has big ruts and huge mud puddles that are nearly impossible to get around without getting your shoes wet and muddy.
I reach cache #1 on day 3 near Borks Falls and get loaded up on food for the next leg of the journey.
So far, it's been a beautiful hike with a lot of great Fall colors and I'm on schedule to finish in just over 7 days. Hike on!!!

River to River Trail 2021 - Days 1 & 2
The River to River Trail is located in Southern Illinois in the Shawnee National Forest. The trail is 157 miles from the Mississippi River at Grand Tower, Illinois to the Ohio River in Elizabethtown, Illinois.
I decided to try and do the trail in 7 days and I cached food and water in two different spots along the way. The caches are roughly 50 miles apart and help me to carry less food each day and also I won't have t leave the trail for any resupply.
