NASA joined with partners in October to generate critical new data on sustainable aviation fuel through Boeing’s ecoDemonstrator project. As Boeing’s second ecoDemonstrator Explorer aircraft flew, switching between sustainable aviation fuel and conventional jet fuel, NASA’s DC-8 aircraft collected data that measured emissions and contrail particles from both types of fuel.
The DC-8, based at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California, is the largest flying science laboratory in the world. The data it collected will help advance our understanding of how sustainable aviation fuel affects contrails, which trap heat in the atmosphere. NASA and Boeing were joined by partners including GE, the German Aerosapce Center, World Energy, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Space Launch System Resource Reel – Nov. 2023
https://amzn.to/46PrnSY
This resource reel shows major milestones for NASA’s mega Moon rocket, the SLS (Space Launch System) throughout 2023 as teams across the country manufacture, build, and prepare hardware for SLS rockets that will power the first crewed Artemis missions with Artemis II, III, IV, and V. Video highlights include: Artemis I launch footage; core stage production for Artemis II and III at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans; launch vehicle stage adapter production for Artemis II and III at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama; shipment, delivery, and processing of the solid rocket booster motor segments for Artemis II at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida; shipment and delivery footage of the ICPS (interim cryogenic propulsion system) for Artemis III; and, testing RS-25 engines for future SLS flights at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Also included is video of early production of the EUS (Exploration Upper Stage), which will provide in-space propulsion for the rocket in its Block 1B configuration beginning with Artemis IV.
NASA is working to land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon under Artemis. SLS is part of NASA’s backbone for deep space exploration, along with Orion and the Gateway in orbit around the Moon. SLS is the only rocket that can send Orion, astronauts, and supplies to the Moon in a single mission.

ISS@25: Unique Laboratory #spacex #astrophotography #RedPlanet
It took a lot of creative energy and careful engineering to create a spacecraft that is now the brightest human-made object in the sky. Although they never met on Earth, the modules of the space station fit perfectly together when they met in space.
