16-year-old shot and killed after National City Halloween party identified
The 16-year-old who was gunned down following a National City house party on October 28, 2022, was identified as Gillian Del Valle, the sister of Janessa Del Valle, 19, who was shot and killed in front of their Bonita home in 2020.
National City police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of East 17th Street around 11:35 p.m. on October 28 following reports that two teenagers had been shot, according to police.
"There was a large crowd with a party, and when National City Police officers got here, additional assistance with the San Diego Police, Chula Vista, and the Sheriff's Department [was requested] to help secure the scene," said Lt. Derek Aydelotte, with National City police.
16-year-old Gillian Del Valle was pronounced dead on scene, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.

Chula Vista, San Diego and Oceanside all ranked within the top 16 cities. One of the main reasons is weather, but Chula Vista earned the number four spot not just for our gorgeous weather, but also for its safety.
"This is a nice neighborhood. We love this area. We love Chula Vista," said Chula Vista resident Bruno Dobu.
According to the survey, Chula vista is far from creepy. The city offers the 10th lowest property crime rate and 32nd lowest violent crime rate, making it a hauntingly good time for trick-or-treaters.

Reports of '50 men' groping at woman at Halloween party near San Diego State University
There are new reports of out-of-control parties near San Diego State University. On Halloween night, police were called to a cul-de-sac known as "Greek Circle."
The reporting party said 50 men were trying to grab a woman on the street, according to San Diego Police Department dispatch audio recordings.
“5050 College Avenue. Approximately 50 males in a cul-de-sac were grabbing at a female as they were walking by,” a police dispatcher said.

Carino’s in La Jolla was opened for 15 years when it expanded to this location in Scripps Ranch. The unknown eater Jim Blankinship went with his family undercover. The food was good but the new restaurant was having timing issues. Their pizza took an extra half hour to arrive. The waiter was extra attentive and gave them updates frequently—and even gave them an extra pizza because of the mix-up.
