Ovenmitt is more the overseer as dogs try to dig out a vole, mouse or shrew. They weren’t successful, which was lucky for whomever they were hunting for.

After all the recent rain, surface water is still flowing strong. My ewes seem to not like getting their toes wet.

I love the doves cooing in the yard. They’ve their own roosts to sit on inside the stables out of the weather and away from birds of prey. The bold dogs get great pleaser in making them fly up in a flurry of feathers.

The beginning of breeding season today as I bring sheep in for sorting.

Despite all the rain we’ve had the aquifer is still very low which means we’re still not out of the ground water drought. We’ve also now got very noisy nosey neighbours.

A year ago I had 5 rams. Now I’m down to just 2 rams both of whom have their own flock each. It’s much easier to have 2 breeding flocks rather than 4 as I did year before. I seem to go through cycles of ram numbers.

Sheep are smart enough to pick around what is not good for them. The only time they’re likely to get sick from mouldy hay is if it’s all they have to eat and they’re hungry. Some farmers will see this as wasteful. I see this as allowing sheep to eat what’s best for them and keeps them healthy.

It’s so easy to bring horses in when a storm is approaching as they’re glad to get shelter from wind and rain. Hay, water and a dry bed out of the storm is all they really want.

Poor fellow really got everything thing done to him over last hour & a half. He got medically virtually everything but the kitchen sink. Bags of intravenous fluids and tubed and an anti biotic just incase. All that could be done has been done so fingers crossed he improves by tomorrow morning.

He love to sit on the stone pier as it give him great height over the sheep.

Alpaca Oreobloom flipped my phone out of my hand as I filmed & amazingly the phone survived crashing down onto the gravel. Once the alpaca knew where they were going and galloped off the lambs quickly followed. One ewe lamb gives a magnificent jump in the air.

enjoy finding hints of evidence that wildlife is present. Our stonewalls are home to so many different animals.

We are a regenerative farm which means restoring soils health and regenerating its natural carbon and nutrient cycle with biodiversity of pasture sward with grasses, legumes, forbs and herbs.

I’m keeping a watchful eye on baby alpaca Black Bird as she is so small. Sleet is not nice for alpaca as they don’t have lanolin to keep wet away from their skin. So brought all animals in as they were all together.

These 2 rams are not as interested in fighting as Buster used to be. There will probably be more fighting between ewes than these 2 boys.

Fresh eggs are one of my favourite foods. So quick, easy and versatile in so many dishes simple and complicated.
