With support from the Biden administration, Netanyahu continues to kill Palestinians, with 164 more dead in two days in Rafah. The South Africans filed a motion on Monday demanding the ICJ act to enforce the measures they issued on January 26 against genocide. If Biden wishes to stop the killing, cut off the flow of funds and weapons to Netanyahu. Those who disparage the ruling handed down by the ICJ on the charge that Israel is guilty of genocide, arguing that it submitted to U.S.-Israeli pressure, reflect the short-sightedness of those whose thinking is controlled by the dominant narratives enforced by the Unipolar Order. The relevant question is, "Why are U.S. troops still deployed in Iraq and Syria?" They are there in defense of a collapsing dollar empire. In its interim ruling, the ICJ declared that Israel "may have committed acts of genocide", and must prevent future such acts; rejected Israel's motion to dismiss the case; and generally accepted what South Africa presented confirming the intent to commit such acts by Israel's leaders. But the Court stopped short of demanding a ceasefire. Which raises the question: If Netanyahu's military attacks on Gaza fit the legal definition of genocide, why not order an end to the military assault? At first glance, the ruling is very important, but not sufficient. There must be now a mobilization by people in all nations to create a new strategic architecture, if genocide is to be prevented.

The International Court of Justice will issue its ruling Friday, Jan. 26, in the case brought by South Africa, which charges Israel with violating the provisions against genocide adopted in 1948. Will the judges rule on the merits of the case presented by S. Africa? Or will they bend to pressure from the TransAtlantic powers, which support Israel? It is not only Israel on trial, but the idea that justice can be obtained through legal proceedings before the World Court -- in other words, does natural law prevail, or must mankind submit to the imperial mandate that "might make right"?
