Mind-Power: The Secret of Mental Magic - An audiobook from William Walker Atkinson
Chapter 6. The Mentative-Poles.
For more on New Thought: https://everythingnewthought.com/
Whatever Mind-Power may be, in its ultimate nature, it is true that in its "working nature" or phase of operation it seems to work along similar lines to those followed by electricity. Like electricity, Mind-Power undoubtedly has two poles, or phases. Like electricity, it travels in currents. Like electricity, it operates by induction. Like electricity, it is vibratory in its manifestation. And, like the higher forms of energy — super-electrical in nature — it possesses radio-activity, or radiant energy — that is, like many other forms of radiant energy, it is constantly throwing off streams of active energy, in the shape of "rays"; "vibrations," or "waves." Recent scientific discoveries have proven this, and in the next few years the world will be startled by additional discoveries along these lines.

I herewith reproduce "The Fable of the Mentative Couple," a bit of writing in the lighter vein perpetrated by myself about a year ago. My excuse for writing this tale, and for reproducing it now, is that it carries with it a decided moral, and teaches an important truth. It brings out the distinction existing between the Motive and the Emotive phases of the mind, and beneath its flippancy is concealed some good, sound psychological truth. I ask that you read it, in connection with what I have just told you regarding the offices of the will, desire, imagination, etc. It will show you, in figurative style, the operation of the two poles of the Desire-Will. And it will show you how the emotive pole or phase, if left unguarded by the protective faculties, will be led into all sorts of trouble.

Mind-Power: The Secret of Mental Magic - An audiobook from William Walker Atkinson
Chapter 4. Mental Magic in Animal Life
For more on New Thought: https://everythingnewthought.com/
I have spoken of the manifestation of Mind-Power among the atoms and particles of matter, whereby the tiny corpuscles become aware of each other's proximity, and whereby they move voluntarily in response to the desire aroused by the attraction or affinity of the other atoms; and whereby they also exert a pull or drawing power on the other atoms, and respond to the same attracting force of the other particle. Ascending the scale, we find the crystals building up their forms by drawing material from the fluids in which they are immersed, and then building upon a set pattern and style, as truly as does the builder among the animals or among men. Passing on to the low forms of animal life, we find tiny life-forms in the slime of the ocean-bed, which are apparently no more than tiny drops of glue — cells without a nucleus — which nevertheless perform the functions of all organic forms, being born, taking nutrition, assimilating, eliminating, growing old, and finally dying, after reproducing their kind by growth and division.

Chapter 3. Mentative Induction

As wonderful as is the manifestation of Mind-Power within the limits of the form of the thing, cell, plant, animal, or person, and which produces the effects known as local action, movement, etc., there is still a greater wonder to be witnessed in the manifestation of the same power beyond the limits of the personality or form in which it originates. And it is to this manifestation of Mind-Power that I am about to apply the term "Telementation." I may as well explain my terms at this place and time. In the first place I use the term "Mentation,” in the sense of "Mental activity"; the term being derived from the Latin word mentis, meaning "the mind"; and the suffix "ation"; meaning "action." So "Mentation" means "mental activity." From Mentation we derive Mentative, or "relating to mental activity"; Mentate, or "to manifest mental activity"; etc., etc. From Mentation, also, I derive the term, "Telementation," which so far as I know, was originally coined by me several years ago.

We are dealing with a natural force — a universal energy — now and here, and should examine and study its principles just as we would were it electricity, magnetism, heat or light that we were studying. I am inviting you to a scientific study, not a metaphysical or philosophical speculation, doctrine or theory. These latter things have their own good places — but they have no place here at this time.

Mind-Power: The Secret of Mental Magic - An audiobook from William Walker Atkinson
Chapter 1. The Mental-Dynamo
For more on New Thought: https://everythingnewthought.com/
I wish to invite you to the consideration of a great principle of Nature — a great natural force that manifests its activities in the phenomena of Dynamic Mentation — a great Something the energies of which I have called "Mind-Power."
My thought on the subject is based upon the fundamental conception that: — There exists in Nature a Dynamic Mental Principle— a Mind-Power— pervading all space— immanent in all things— manifesting in an infinite variety of forms, degrees, and phases.
I hold that this energy, or force, or dynamic principle, is no respecter of persons. Its service, like that of the sun and rain, and all natural forces, is open to all — just and unjust; good and bad; high and low; rich and poor. It responds to the proper efforts, no matter by whom exerted, or for what purpose called into effect. But the proper effort must be exerted, consciously or unconsciously, else there will be no operation of the force. I believe that the activities of this dynamic mental principle are intimately correlated to manifestations of the mental operations known to us as desire, will, and imagination. We shall learn something of the laws and principles and modes of operation of its energies and activities, as we proceed with our consideration of it, in this work. It may be difficult for you to grasp this conception of Mind-Power at the start — but it will grow upon your understanding as its activities are presented to you, one by one, like a great panorama.

The Divine Pedigree of Man - Audiobook by Thomson Jay Hudson
Part 2 - Chapter 9 - The Theistic Argument from Ontogeny and Phylogeny
Dr. Hudson was a genius at revealing how science and religion harmonize. This book reveals how logical the idea of a First Great Cause is when examining the phenomenon of evolution. To paraphrase Dr. Hudson: There is an initial misconception by atheistic scientists that evolution eliminates the need for a divine creator and the corresponding mistake by theologians in rejecting evolution as incompatible with their beliefs. Over time, more open-minded individuals from both sides have recognized that evolution, rather than negating the existence of God, can be seen as God's method of creation. The understanding of organic evolution leads to a clearer appreciation of the teleological argument, reinforcing the idea that the evidence of intelligent design in evolution strengthens the concept of a Divine and Intelligent Creator or The First Great Cause.
The success that "The Law of Psychic Phenomena" met with induced the author to prepare and publish the present volume for the purpose of carrying to their legitimate conclusions some of the principles laid down in his former one. Dr. Hudson, in pursuing his inquiry, has endeavored to follow the strictest rules of scientific induction, taking nothing for granted that is not axiomatic, and holding that there is nothing worthy of belief that is not sustained by a solid basis of well-authenticated facts.

The Law of Psychic Phenomena - Thomson Jay Hudson Audiobook
Chapter 16 - The Phenomena of Spiritism Continued
For more about New Thought: https://everythingnewthought.com/
The Law of Psychic Phenomena is a book written by Thomson Jay Hudson that found immense success overnight. The book explores the idea that there are laws governing psychic phenomena, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and spiritual healing. Hudson argues that these phenomena can be explained through the principles of subconscious mental activity and suggests that the subconscious mind plays a crucial role in understanding and harnessing psychic abilities. The book delves into topics like hypnotism, suggestion, spiritual healing, and the power of the mind in influencing and manifesting psychic experiences. Overall, Hudson's work contributes to the study of psychic phenomena from a psychological perspective, emphasizing the importance of the subconscious mind in these mysterious occurrences.
After concluding with his convincing argument of the power of the subconscious mind, Hudson goes on to argue a scientific basis for Christianity based on these psychic abilities. Hudson synthesized the work of many eminent scientists of his time with the findings of the Society of Psychical Research to establish his argument that we are all endowed with these psychic powers that Christ taught.
For those studying metaphysics, New Thought, Mental Science, or scientific Christianity, or for those who want to transform their lives through the power of the mind, Thomson Jay Hudson is a must-read and pivotal figure. The logic and scientific rigor he used in studying metaphysics and mind laid the foundation for men like Thomas Troward, Emmett Fox, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Ernest Holmes, Neville Goddard, and Robert Russell in their work. If you want evidence of the spiritual in this universe, Thomson Jay Hudson is a must-read. He was a century ahead of his time on topics such as epigenetics. In a time when spiritism was threatening the scientific integrity of the study of metaphysics, he laid out a case disproving spiritism while bolstering the world's view on the scientific study of metaphysics.
An excerpt from a biographical on Dr. Hudson:
Without violence to the truth, it may be said that one morning in 1893, Dr. Hudson awoke to find himself famous throughout the English-speaking world. His book The Law of Psychic Phenomena found an enormous sale, which continued at an increasing ratio. His first great work will be the standard by which posterity will estimate his standing as a pioneer in the scientific survey of the whole past field of psychical research. This was in turn, followed by "A Scientific Demonstration of the Future Life." "The Divine Pedigree of Man," and in 1903, & "The Law of Mental Medicine."
From Dr. Hudson:
"My primary object in offering this book to the public is to assist in bringing Psychology within the domain of the exact sciences. That this has never been accomplished is owing to the fact that no successful attempt has been made to formulate a working hypothesis sufficiently comprehensive to embrace all psychic phenomena. It has, however, long been felt by the ablest thinkers of our time that all psychic manifestations of the human intellect, normal or abnormal, whether designated by the name of mesmerism, hypnotism, somnambulism, trance, spiritism, demonology, miracle, mental therapeutics, genius, or insanity, are in some way related; and consequently, that they are to be referred to some general principle or law, which, once understood, will simplify and correlate the whole subject-matter, and possibly remove it from the domain of the supernatural."

The Divine Pedigree of Man - Audiobook by Thomson Jay Hudson
Chapter 4 - Evolution of the Subjective (Subconscious) Mind
