Do All Reptiles Eat Crickets?
Reptiles are fascinating animals that are found in the wild and are also kept as pets. Reptiles are different from us in so many ways, they’re cold-blooded, they shed their skin, and they eat pretty weird things! Among the many eccentric food items your pet reptile might consume are insects. Some reptiles need insects added to their meals while others survive on insects alone!
So out of all of the reptiles that eat bugs, which reptiles eat crickets?
Crickets are a great source of protein and nutrients for both wild and pet reptiles. Crickets are easy to catch and hunt for wild reptiles and easy to purchase for pet reptiles. Many reptiles like bearded dragons, leopard geckos, and green anoles eat crickets. Some snakes, like garter snakes, even eat crickets!
Though many reptiles eat crickets, not all of them consume these little insects. Some reptiles are complete herbivores and will only eat bugs accidentally. Sulcata tortoises, Russian tortoises, and Uromastyx are all examples of reptiles that don’t eat crickets. These animals don’t consume any live food and instead, survive on plants for their entire lives. Bugs aren’t easily digested by herbivores and these reptiles generally aren’t fast enough to hunt and catch something like a cricket.
On the other hand, you have larger reptiles that are carnivores. While some medium-sized carnivores will eat bugs, large carnivorous reptiles like Komodo dragons will not. Crickets are too small to give them any real nutritional value and a large predator won’t usually spend its time hunting such a small meal. Even though these reptiles won’t often eat crickets, they might go after a small bug in a life-or-death situation. Emaciated animals in the wild would probably eat anything they could get their teeth around just to survive.
So, now that we have some examples of turtles and lizards that don’t eat crickets, what about snakes?

The First Golden Rays of the Most Beautiful Morning Sunrise
The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky. Golden fingers of sunlight lit up the scene. The just-risen sun shone softly on the city streets, bringing with it a flurry of early-morning activity.
Sunrise (or sunup) is the moment when the upper rim of the Sun appears on the horizon in the morning. The term can also refer to the entire process of the solar disk crossing the horizon and its accompanying atmospheric effects.

Does Costa Rica have attractive Cascades? This one my favorite.
As one of the most photographed natural formations in this visually stunning country, the waterfalls of Costa Rica astound both experienced and novice travelers alike. There is just something incredible about rushing water dramatically falling from the rainforest canopy into a pool at the base of a cliff. After a hike through the rainforest in the tropical heat, a cool dip beneath these powerful forces of nature will not disappoint. The following waterfalls are timeless favorites of both locals and tourists.

Little bugs better beware of the archerfish that shoots water
The archerfish that shoots water from its mouth bugs better beware. How does the archerfish does it? Well its quite simple actually, The archerfish does this by forming a small groove in the roof of its mouth and its tongue into a narrow channel. It then fires by contracting its gill covers and forcing water through the channel, shooting a stream that, shaped by its mouth parts, travels faster at the rear than at the front.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL VIDEO OF THE OCEAN ROAD HIGHWAY
THE OCEAN ROAD HIGHWAY AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL VIDEO
What is the best part of the Great Ocean Road Highway? Is one of the most scenic places to see on the Great Ocean Road Highway; a protected, rocky beach nestled amongst cliffs. Waves thread their way through the gorge and up onto the beach when the swell is up. And when it's calm, the inlet turns glassy and turquoise blue.
Driving across you would love the view of the rocks, birds, and small yachts. It's absolutely breathtaking to feel the cool summer breeze against your skin.

The Beautiful September Corn Moon
In September the Full Moon was called Corn Moon or Harvest Moon by the Algonquin tribes. This was the time for gathering their main staple crops of corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice.
September’s full Harvest Moon reaches its peak on Monday, September 20, 2021. Learn how the Harvest Moon got its name—plus, see Moon phase dates, Best Days by the Moon, folklore, and more!
When to See the Full Moon in September 2021
This year, look for September’s full Harvest Moon to rise in the southeast just after sunset on Monday, September 20—just two days before the fall equinox! This full Moon reaches peak illumination at 7:54 P.M. Eastern Time on the 20th.
Why Is It Called the Harvest Moon?
The full Moon names used by The Old Farmer’s Almanac come from a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources. Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred and through all of the Moon’s phases—not only the full Moon. The Harvest Moon, however, is a bit different!
The Harvest Moon
The full Moon that happens nearest to the fall equinox (September 22 or 23) always takes on the name “Harvest Moon.” Unlike other full Moons, this full Moon rises at nearly the same time—around sunset—for several evenings in a row, giving farmers several extra evenings of moonlight and allowing them to finish their harvests before the frosts of fall arrive. Read more about the Harvest Moon!
While September’s full Moon is usually known as the Harvest Moon, if October’s full Moon happens to occur closer to the equinox than September’s, it takes on the name “Harvest Moon” instead. In this case, September’s full Moon is referred to as the Corn Moon.

The Corn Moon
This time of year—late summer into early fall—corresponds with the time of harvesting corn in much of the northern United States. For this reason, a number of Native American peoples traditionally used some variation of the name “Corn Moon” to refer to the Moon of either August or September. Examples include Corn Maker Moon (Western Abenaki) and Corn Harvest Moon (Dakota).
Alternative September Moon Names
Other Moon names for this month highlight how September is the transitional period between summer and fall

Why Does My Puppy Refuse to Go on Walks?
Taking your puppy for regular walks is important for exercise and socialization. But puppies aren’t born knowing how to walk on leash. Although some will walk beside you and others will pull you along, there are some puppies that, as soon as you clip on the leash, refuse to budge. What’s up with these reluctant pups? Why does the leash act like a stop sign? The truth is many puppies are frightened, either of the collar and leash or of the great outdoors. Read on to learn more about why your puppy refuses to go on walks and how you can change their attitude.
Teach Your Puppy to Love the Leash
Simply clipping on a leash can be enough to shut some puppies down. That’s because a leash is a form of restraint. When your puppy is leashed, they can’t go where they want or escape from anything that frightens them. And that feeling is intimidating. Rather than seeing the leash as the predictor of an exciting walk, they see it as scary.

For some puppies, even a collar can upset them. It feels strange. Plus, if you use the collar to grab your puppy and pull them around, they will associate it with negative consequences. Instead, you want your puppy to enjoy their collar and feel comfortable being held by it.
Hopefully, your breeder will have introduced your puppy to a collar and leash. But if not, it’s your job to help your pup feel confident wearing them. Start in the house with short periods of time. Praise and play with your puppy while they’re wearing them and feed delicious treats as a reward. You can also play the “Gotcha” game with the collar by gently grabbing your puppy’s collar before feeding a favorite treat. In no time, your puppy will see the collar and leash as a predictor of wonderful things.
Now you’re ready to teach your puppy to walk on leash. While still in the house, use treats to lure your puppy towards you while they are clipped to the leash. Praise and reward your puppy when they come to you. Next, start walking with your puppy. If your pup is hesitant, lure them with treats. When your puppy will walk with you in the house, try the backyard before moving to the sidewalk. Keep your sessions short with frequent praise and rewards.

8 Tips for maintaining a healthy relationship
A healthy relationship means that both you and your partner are:
Communicative. You talk openly about problems and listen to one another. You respect each other’s opinions.
Respectful. You value each other’s opinions, feelings, and needs, and give each other the freedom to be yourself and be loved for who you are.
Trusting. You believe what your partner has to say and don’t feel the need to “prove” each other’s trustworthiness.
Honest. You’re honest with each other but can still keep some things private.
Equal. You make decisions together and hold each other to the same standards. You and your partner have equal say with regard to major decisions within the relationship. All partners have access to the resources they need.
Setting boundaries. You enjoy spending time apart, alone, or with others. You respect each other’s need for time and space apart. You communicate with each other about what you are and aren’t comfortable with.
Practicing consent. You talk openly about sexual and reproductive choices together. All partners always willingly consent to sexual activity and can safely discuss what you are and aren’t comfortable with.

Heron swallows a whole chicken wing
Each day, while working the afternoon shifts from 2:15 pm to 11:30 pm. We would stop by our favorite Indian restaurant and purchase the Spicy Chicken Wings and Fries. The deli is located close to the Sands Complex. There is a Heron Bird that always waits for us to get the delicious fried chicken wings. Upon arrival, the sea bird proceeds to where we normally sit. My friend and I started to laugh. The way it patiently positions itself for the delicious goodies we are carrying. No matter the size of wings we throw at it, somehow it manages to swallow the entire piece.

How Does A Mother Deer Protect Her Fawn?
Fawns are born scent-free and have white camouflage spots which protect them from predators. The doe continues to keep her babies scent free by consuming her fawns urine and droppings. This is yet another reason why humans should never touch a fawn. Leaving human scent on their body will attract predators to the fawn. If you have touched a fawn and are returning the fawn to the place where found, please do the following:
Put on rubber gloves and get a towel.
Rub the towel in the grass then wipe the fawnʼs body with that towel to remove human scent.
Leaving the gloves on, return the fawn to the place where found. Now the fawn is once again scent-free and waiting for mom to return.
The destruction of habitat through logging and development has played a large part in the decrease of deer. Sadly, automobiles destroy thousands of deer annually. The following are a few tips on how to make your drive safer for you and the deer:
Heed wildlife warning signs and adhere to the speed limit.
Where forest or fields are on both sides of the road, scan for wildlife at all times. Be particularly attentive during dawn, dusk, and nighttime hours.
At night, always watch for reflection from the eyes of deer and other nocturnal animals.
If a deer “freezes” in your head lights, stop if safe and turn your headlights off and on so the animal can pass.
When you see brake lights, it could mean the driver ahead of you has spotted deer. Stay alert!
If one animal crossed the road ahead of you, stop and watch; there will probably be others.
Deer hooves slip on pavement. A deer may fall in front of your vehicle just when you think it’s jumping away.
If you accidently hit and kill a deer, move it far off the road. Often a doe will be killed and her fawn is still there in harms way. The living fawn/s will stay by their dead mom and/or dead sibling for hours.
If an adult deer is hit by a vehicle and wounded, immediately call Santa Cruz County Animal Services (831-454-7200) or the non-emergency number of the local police for assistance. Please do not let the deer suffer.
Do not touch an injured deer as their sharp hooves will do major damage to you.
Deer of are such beautiful creatures to observe, but if you do not want them in your garden, here are some helpful hints to humanely keep them away:
Fruit trees are a natural attractant. Fruit should be harvested and fallen fruit removed.
Grass and underbrush should be kept trimmed.
Attractants can be surrounded by repellant plants such as: catnip, chives, garlic, lavender, onion, sage, spearmint and thyme.
Visual stimuli like strobe lights, mylar tape, scarecrows, bright lights, motion activated water sprays, loud noises and radios will help keep the deer away.
Deer fencing at least 8 feet high or simply fencing individual plants.
If you see an adult deer with a broken leg or other injury, leave the animal alone unless it can’t stand up. Even though the injury may take a long time to heal, this is far preferable to the trauma of chase and capture. Wild animalʼs ability to heal and their adaptability of some injuries are quite amazing.

Sailing across the beautiful ocean reef
A coral reef is an underwater ecosystem characterized by reef-building corals. Reefs are formed of colonies of coral polyps held together by calcium carbonate. Most coral reefs are built from stony corals, whose polyps cluster in groups.
Coral belongs to the class Anthozoa in the animal phylum Cnidaria, which includes sea anemones and jellyfish. Unlike sea anemones, corals secrete hard carbonate exoskeletons that support and protect the coral. Most reefs grow best in warm, shallow, clear, sunny and agitated water. Coral reefs first appeared 485 million years ago, at the dawn of the Early Ordovician, displacing the microbial and sponge reefs of the Cambrian.[1]
Sometimes called rainforests of the sea,[2] shallow coral reefs form some of Earth's most diverse ecosystems. They occupy less than 0.1% of the world's ocean area, about half the area of France, yet they provide a home for at least 25% of all marine species,[3][4][5][6] including fish, mollusks, worms, crustaceans, echinoderms, sponges, tunicates and other cnidarians.[7] Coral reefs flourish in ocean waters that provide few nutrients. They are most commonly found at shallow depths in tropical waters, but deep water and cold water coral reefs exist on smaller scales in other areas.
Coral reefs deliver ecosystem services for tourism, fisheries and shoreline protection. The annual global economic value of coral reefs is estimated between US$30–375 billion[8][9] and US$9.9 trillion.[10] Coral reefs are fragile, partly because they are sensitive to water conditions. They are under threat from excess nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus), rising temperatures, oceanic acidification, overfishing (e.g., from blast fishing, cyanide fishing, spearfishing on scuba), sunscreen use,[11] and harmful land-use practices, including runoff and seeps (e.g., from injection wells and cesspools).
