Max Canada Lynx, the educational animal ambassador takes a moment to get some good scratchin' before he sits down for his meal. He was born at a zoo in May 2011. Max is not domesticated but has been humanized. He still has wild tendencies. He educates the public locally on the endangered/threatened (in lower 48 states) Canada Lynx in hopes that people will be driven to conserve our environment and protect our wildlife. Technically, they are listed as "threatened" but in my state of NY they are considered "extirpated." However, it's legal to trap these beautiful animals in Canada and Alaska.

I've been feeding the mother squirrel that lives nearby. I fed her from far at first, over time she'd get closer and closer until she'd take it right out of my hand. Recently she's started climbing up my leg to get to the peanut and even sitting on my lap to eat! I love it, but I think I'm going to have to stop soon because it's getting out of control. She's getting too used to humans and might get herself hurt by someone or she'll climb up a stranger and that'll probably freak them out !

Bucky is a little squirrel who loves peanuts and dancing. She is a gentle creature who visits us at least once a day, hops up on the door sill, puts her paws in front of her and does a little dance when she gets excited.
