After the Order of the Knights Templar was dissolved in the 14th century, the Portuguese branch of the order was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, which supported Portugal's maritime discoveries of the 15th century. Man-made and beautiful! The Cascata delle Marmore (Marmore's Falls) is a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans. Its total height is 165 m (541 feet), making it one of the tallest in Italy and the tallest man-made waterfall in the world.

Painted Cave, located in the northwestern coastline of Santa Cruz Island, is one of the largest and deepest sea caves in the world. Its colorful rock types, lichens, and algae are forming colored formation that are the reason of its evocative name. Painted Cave is nearly a quarter mile long and 100 feet wide, with an entrance ceiling of 160 feet. During spring it is possible to enjoy also a beautiful waterfall over the entrance.
