A small light sport airplane came in and landed just after we did in Oceano. He was having engine problems and panicked in the pattern. He impacted the runway at 85 mph and promptly veered off the runway and flipped upside down. Thankfully no one was hurt!

The highly skilled test pilots and flight engineer in the flight deck of Scaled Composites' majestic Stratolaunch did a spectacular job at landing this airplane on its 28 giant wheels like the pro's they are. This was only their second landing in the aircraft. Today's test flight took advantage of some beautiful weather over Mojave Air and Space Port and even drew the attention of some stealthy eyes in the sky. A curious U2 spy plane and one or two B2 Spirit "Stealth Bombers" were spotted circling at safe distances more than once throughout the day!

With a massive 385 foot wingspan, Stratolaunch is the first airplane since the "Spruce Goose" of 1947 to claim the title of world's largest airplane. Stratolaunch was built by Scaled Composites with the purpose of eventually launching space vehicles from very high altitudes.

After more than two years since its maiden voyage, Stratolaunch had its second successful test flight today! With a 385 foot wingspan, Stratolaunch is the first airplane since the "Spruce Goose" of 1947 to claim the title of world's largest airplane. Just look at that shadow as the majestic giant swoops in and eclipses the blazing desert sun.

This is why you should always wear a seatbelt in an airplane and wear it tight!

We were troubleshooting an engine vibration issue and needed to see the engine's performance at TOGA (Take Off, Go Around) Power. Since the airport doesn't have any JBD's (Jet Blast Deflectors) we taxied out and lined up on the runway for the runup.

Pilot, the mini golden, was ECSTATIC and quite fascinated with his new birthday present.

At first I didn’t believe them when they told me it would fly, but they proved me wrong😂 It’s a completely home built ultralight airplane.

The day before President Donald Trump visited Bakersfield, his security teams flew several loads of vehicles and equipment in with these massively badass birds. I never get tired of those sounds!!!

There are few places if any I have flown that are more scenic then Lake Tahoe. The topography up there can create some challenging conditions, but the scenery alone makes it worth it. Time stands still when you’re in a place like that in an airplane alone!!! It’s never too late or to soon to go learn to fly!!!

This is often good advice in life. Your only limitations in life are the size of your comfort zone and your fear of leaving it.
