Why Drinking More Water Is The Healthiest Habit Ever
Why Drinking More Water Is The Healthiest Habit Ever
Every health tip and trend seems to offer up options that seem appealing on their surface but shy away from being truly effective toward creating a healthier, more successful you.
One key component that the trends and fads are almost always missing is water!
Drinking enough water throughout the day is a time-honored method of boosting your health and helping you be successful.
Fads and trends in the dieting industry might push you toward the newest sports drink or fancy “diet” soda but the bottom line is that your body and mind need more water.
Creating habits around drinking water will help you see the benefits quickly and you’ll be able to do more with your day!
image
Hydration is Key
Everything in your body from your skin to your internal organs to the way you process food is governed by how much water you drink.
If you want that bright, glowing skin that all the celebrities seem to have, water is the best place to start.
Tired of feeling like you’ve always got a rumbly tummy?
Drink more water.
But teaching your body to reach for that water glass instead of soda, sports drinks, or another iced coffee requires some re-learning and training on your part.
Water Bottles
image
To teach your body and mind how to reach for water instead of drinks that won’t do your body much good, the first step is to find a beverage container that you really like!
Do some shopping online and in stores to find a water bottle or glass that suits your needs and your tastes.
If you have something fun to look forward to each time you reach for it, you’ll teach your brain to be boosted when you do it!
Find something in a color you love, a shape that fits you and your home, car, or office, and that will keep your water the temperature you need throughout the day.
Suns Up, Water Out
Oftentimes we turn to coffee or tea in the morning as a way to wake our bodies up and get going for the day.
There’s nothing wrong with this routine and sticking to a sugar-free cup of coffee or tea can be a perfect part of your morning routine!
But a simple way to get more water in throughout the day and kickstart your body’s processes for the day is to drink a glass of ice water!
The shock of cold water and the hydration push your body to process it more quickly and you get one glass of water out of the way for the day before you even leave the house.
Set an Alarm
When you’re focused on work, it can be hard to remember to take a break, breathe, and drink some water.
Set an alarm on your phone or watch that will go off throughout the day and remind you to sit back, take a breath, and drink a big batch of water.
Give yourself plenty of short times throughout the day where you take a drink break and even get up out of your chair and stretch while you do it.
If you’re at home all day, pause what you’re doing and get a drink.
Get the kids in on it too and make it a simple moment to get your hydration and a few moments of peace and quiet!
Keep a Habit Tracker
Start your water charting with a habit tracker.
Write down your goal for the day, week, or month in terms of water bottles, glasses, or gallon jugs (whatever your preferred form of measurement), and keep a close record of what you’ve consumed throughout the day.
Make this simple chart fun and easy to use so you’ll want to reach for it throughout the day!
Get Accountable
Going out to start a new habit all on your own is a daunting task.
Sharing your struggles with an accountability partner is one of the best ways to keep your mind and body on track without feeling like you have to do it alone!
Find someone you can trust and continue sharing your struggles with them whether it’s about food or exercise, personal issues, or your water intake.
You might get involved with a health coach, gym partner, or just find a friend who can be tough.
Either way, talking through the issue with someone you trust can make all the difference in the world!
Takeaway
Drinking plenty of water helps every area of your life from being able to think more clearly to helping your skin glow and shine throughout the day!
Creating a new water drinking habit can help you get all the benefits without upending your entire life.

How To Get Excited About Change
Change is a healthy and a necessary part of life.
This fast-paced world we live in is constantly changing.
If we fail to adapt, then we will fail to thrive in life.
If you sit down and reflect honestly, you will probably observe that change is the only constant thing in our lives.
It is imperative, if we want to grow and be happy, that we learn to adapt and commit to change.
Here are a few ways to help you get excited about the change you would like to see in your lives.
#1: Define your commitment
First things first, define what type of change you would like to see and are WILLING to commit to.
If you do not know what you are committing to, then you will never be able to truly commit to creating change.
Be clear and be honest while defining your commitment.
Grab a pen and paper or your tablet.
Start by defining why you are doing this.
Next brainstorm all the possible “hows” , how are you going to do this?
Try not to fixate on the hows too much though, that can sometimes lead to paralysis.
Let’s use the example of fitness.
If you do not like the condition your body is currently in, you might decide to change it.
You must define why are you doing this; be as clear, honest and detailed as you can.
Then draft a plan regarding the methods you are going to practice to achieve this, such as improving your eating habits and increasing your physical activity. etc.
This will make you aware of what you are actually committing to and prepare yourself for the work ahead.
#2: Do not be a spectator
The second thing to improve commitment to change is to make sure you are not "faking the funk," saying you want to change without participating in the effort.
Commitment is an obligation that you cannot fulfill if you do not fully engage with it.
Step up and be present!
Staying with the example of fitness, you are just “checking the block” if you are just going to the gym to say you went to the gym, but are not changing your eating habits as well; you will not reach the results you want.
To get the best results and to fully embrace the change, you have to commit to a healthy overall lifestyle by going to the gym AND by changing your eating habits.
You must completely invest yourself in what the change requires.
BE ALL IN.
#3: Be persistent
Commitment requires persistence.
You cannot chicken out because you are finding it hard to adapt to change or if the change is not immediately working out for you.
That is not going to get you results.
To acquire great results from the change, you have to practice persistence.
Again, using the example of fitness, some days you will do well; you will eat healthy meals and you will workout like a beast.
Other days will not go so smoothly.
These small failures only equate to big failures if you do not perserverr and power past them to try again the next day.
You must be persistent to get the results your heart desires.
Be forgiving of yourself.
Allow for flexibility.
Accept where you are and that you are on a journey.
No change is an overnight transformation.
#4: Refresh your motivations
Motivation is not permanent; it requires revisiting and refreshing.
Go back to your notebook where you defined your commitments.
Re-read those reasons and plans that you wrote down while you were defining your commitments when you were powerfully motivated.
This will reignite that spark.
If your motivations have changed, draft your plan again and add some new reasons to the list.
I have a podcast on Light Body Radio all about motivation and procrastination.
Tune in for a more in depth dive into motivation.
Committing to change—any change—is significant and can be daunting.
Take some “baby steps” with these four tips to get started, and remember that slow and steady wins the race.
Be loving, forgiving and compassionate with yourself.
Celebrate the small wins and keep going!

Today's topic...winter detoxing, why and when
#detoxification #detox #detoxing #winterdetox #seasonaldetox
join us for a winter detox at https://drlaramay.com/memberships
The goal of detox is to remove the unwanted waste and toxins from your body
before disease set in. This is so important considering your body is exposed to
over 2 million toxins per day.1
Though our bodies are designed to naturally detox, they can quickly become
overloaded with toxins in today’s society. When this happens, our bodies cannot
keep up and begin to shut down. As a result, the elimination of toxins is stalled.
When toxins aren’t naturally eliminated, and you don’t force them out manually
through a detox, health issues such as weight gain, hormonal issues, blood sugar
imbalances, rashes, allergies, poor sleep, and low sex drive occur. Sometimes,
toxicity can lead to even more severe health issues such as diabetes,
autoimmune diseases, or even cancer.
Of course, just as much as this detox is a physical cleanse, it is also an emotional
cleanse. It is not just about your liver functioning properly or having a clean
colon, although these are necessary. It’s also about removing what does not
serve you emotionally and spiritually.
Put simply, detox gives you access to magnificent emotional, physical and
spiritual health.
