Week 13 | Any Other Gospel | 2 Corinthians 11:1-15
City Church pastor, Jim Simpson, continues the series on 2 Corinthians today in chapter 11. He follows along as Paul continues to encourage the church in Corinth to not fall prey to false teachers or a different gospel. We, like the Corinthians, can fall prey to false teaching. Paul is claiming that they will tolerate bad doctrine, teaching, or instruction because people oftentimes accept that because the same name is used it’s therefore the same. The Jesus of Islam, the Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, ets. is not the same Jesus. We cannot fall victim to the teachings that “all is Christ” and the universalist thoughts that we can all believe in different things and still reach heaven, nirvana, or utopia.

Week 12 | Defending The Ministry | 2 Corinthians 10:1-18
City Church pastor, Jim Simpson, continues the series on 2 Corinthians today in chapter 10. Paul addresses accusations against him in this letter to the Corinthian church. The boldness he defends follows after his teaching on being a cheerful and abundant giver. He reminds them of the fruit of his ministry and lets the church know that he will address these issues with them face to face. He wants them to know that he is in private who he is in public. Are we who we say we are in public or do we hide our real selves in secret? Does our ministry reflect our daily lives? We are the company we keep – what does that company say about us?

Church elder Jim McLean brings the teaching of 2 Corinthians 9 this Sunday before Labor Day. Week 09 | 2 Corinthians 8:1-15
Pastor Jim Simpson is teaching today on 2 Corinthians 8:1-15. We can ask some questions about this text. Was Paul a socialist? Do prophets have a place in the church? Do we give joyfully to those in need or does it feel like another pull on our purse strings to *have* to give our tithes and offerings? Did the Corinthian church give with a radical generosity or a grumbling spirit?
