Exploring and Camping Sears Point Petroglyphs | Vanlife Adventure in Arizona
Join me, Dennis Alan, and my trusty dog Eddie Murphy on our latest vanlife adventure! In this video, we venture out to the remote Sears Point Petroglyphs in Dateland, Arizona. We camp out alone in the beautiful desert landscape and explore the amazing petroglyphs that were left behind by ancient peoples. The off-road journey in our Honda Odyssey minivan campervan was quite the adventure too! Come along and join us for an unforgettable experience.
Sears Point is a remote area in Dateland, Arizona that is home to a collection of ancient petroglyphs. These petroglyphs were created by the Hohokam people, who inhabited the area from approximately 200 to 1450 AD. The Hohokam were a pre-Columbian civilization that was known for their advanced agricultural practices and sophisticated engineering skills.
The petroglyphs at Sears Point are believed to have been created during the Hohokam Classic period (1150-1400 AD). They depict a variety of images, including animals, humans, and geometric shapes. Many of the petroglyphs have religious or spiritual significance, and they provide a glimpse into the beliefs and practices of the ancient Hohokam people.
Today, Sears Point is a protected archaeological site that is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Visitors can hike to the petroglyphs and explore the surrounding desert landscape, but it is important to respect the site and avoid damaging or disturbing the ancient artifacts.

Exploring the Wild West: Hiking Barefoot to Fort Bowie in Arizona with Dennis Alan
Join me, Dennis Alan, as I embark on a journey to the historic Fort Bowie in Arizona, hiking barefoot through the rugged terrain of the Old West. Fort Bowie was established in the 1800s as a military post to protect travelers on the Butterfield Overland Mail route. As I hike through the Sonoran desert landscape, I share the history of the fort and the surrounding area, including the Apache Wars and the significance of the Chiricahua Mountains.
One of the most interesting aspects of Fort Bowie is the grave of Geronimo's two-year-old son, buried at the fort's cemetery. Geronimo, a prominent Apache leader, led a resistance against the U.S. government in the late 1800s, and his story is deeply intertwined with the history of this region. I discuss the history of Geronimo and his son, as well as other important figures who were associated with Fort Bowie.
This is a true adventure and a chance to connect with the rich history of the American West. I can't wait to share it with you!
