Were it Not for Grace
Were it Not for Grace, and Grace Greater than our sin
Sung by Orlando Pacis
Credit to Songwriters: David Hamilton / Phill Mchugh
Time measured out my days
Life carried me along
In my soul I yearned to follow God
But knew I'd never be so strong
I looked hard at this world
To learn how heaven could be gained
Just to end where I began
Where human effort is all in vain
Were it not for grace
I can tell you where I'd be
Wandering down some pointless
Road to nowhere
With my salvation up to me
I know how that would go
The battles I would face
Forever running but losing the race
Were it not for grace
So here is all my praise
Expressed with all my heart
Offered to a Friend who took my place
And ran a course I could not start
And when He saw in full
Just how much His love would cost
He still went the final mile
Between me and heaven
So I would not be lost
00:00/05:20

Three kinds of people - and how to deal with them - from 1 Thessalonians 5:14.
Warn them that are unruly,
Comfort the feebleminded,
Support the weak,
Be patient toward all men.
1. CORRECT THE DISORDERLY
…warn them that are unruly…
Some people are like undisciplined soldiers. Out of order, out of line, out of step. They are easy prey for the enemy.
Some are unruly – disorderly. 2 Thessalonians 3:11 …there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
These folk were… shirkers and rebels.
God brings order and harmony. Not discord, and disunity. The disorderly are:
• Divisive (Romans 16:17, 1 Timothy 6:3-5)
• Disruptive
• Destructive.
They will not support a godly church, or submit to godly leadership…
They are Rebels - who want to…
• Bring in their own, different teachings. To
• Go their own way, and do their own thing.
Paul warns… Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. 1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…
People who are out of order need to be brought back into order. There is needful warning…
The Bible talks about sin, and doctrinal error, as TOXIC - like a cancer.
Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Paul warned while he was weeping. Acts 20:31 …I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. We must boldly speak against error.
The undisciplined youth of our day are crying out for help. There is need for telling the truth in love.
Paul tells also of another group of people- THE DISCOURAGED.
2. COMFORT THE DISCOURAGED
The Word says, …comfort the feebleminded…
These are the fainthearted - those who lose heart…
• The disheartened
• The downcast
• The discouraged ones.
These ones need comfort. Give them hope.
Give encouraging, uplifting words.
The discouraged of our day are those…
• Lacking in victory
• Labouring under burdens
• Low in spirit - due to trials and tests and setbacks.
Do we see them - all about us? Those…
• Downtrodden,
• Battle-weary ones.
Those…
• Who have had battles to fight?
• Who have trod some difficult pathways?
• Who bear the scars of discouragement and defeat?
Encourage one another daily. Day by day by day.
Give a word of praise.
Take time to reach out to those who are bruised and fragile.
Do we reach out to uplift the troubled?
Take time for the hurting - to bring healing.
Do we reach out to people when tragedy strikes?
Paul says we are to…
EN-courage those who are DIS-couraged…
Discouragement is powerful. But encouragement is also powerful.
Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Build each other up.
Be an encourager - like Barnabas - the “son of encouragement”...
• Barnabas encouraged Paul when he was newly saved, standing with him.
• Barnabas was a generous man in the church to meet needs.
• Barnabas exhorted - encouraged - the people at Antioch to stay true to the Lord, Acts 11:23.
• Barnabas wanted to give John Mark a second chance. He showed forgiveness and grace and saw the best in people.
Look out for opportunities to…
• Give encouragement;
• Give a word of cheer.
An encouraging word can make all the difference.
Paul talks of The disorderly, The discouraged, and now, of a third set of people… THE WEAK… He says:
3. CARE FOR THE WEAK
…support the weak…
Look after them…
• Strengthen them
• Be supportive
• Stand by them.
Show your love and care.
Nurture the weaker ones. The frail. The sick. Many are weak and stumbling.
Those who are weak in faith need…
• Our understanding
• Our consideration
• Our care.
Help the afflicted. The downtrodden.
Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
The weaker ones are all around us. We may not always notice. It is easy to miss them.
David honoured Mephibosheth.
Let's not just look out for our own interests, but also consider the needs of others (Phil 2:4).
Paul wraps it all up, by saying, with all men…
4. KEEP PATIENT TO ALL
…be patient toward all men.
Be patient here with absolutely everybody…
Paul says… continue being patient toward all…
• Patiently enduring
• Longsuffering
• Putting up with much.
Be patient with everyone.
Love is patient.
Show a calm and enduring spirit.
Learn to be gracious and kind.
Don’t hold any grudges.
Be forgiving.
Show God’s grace to others.
These are all very practical tips for living life with others…
1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Satan's Pitchfork
There’s a killer on the loose - the world’s most dangerous thief. He's the devil - and his three-pronged attack. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to STEAL, and to KILL, and to DESTROY.
He is a THIEF. He wants to steal from us. The Bible talks of spiritual wealth. Matthew 6:19 …treasures in heaven… Real wealth is knowing a heavenly dimension in your life- a life lived with an eternal meaning and purpose. It’s a Fail-Safe Investment.
God gives – and the devil takes. He wants to take the Word of God from people; Matthew 13:19. The devil sometimes TAKES by GIVING - in the Garden he tempted Eve and then Adam with the forbidden fruit and he's been robbing people blind ever since.
The devil wants to take your…
• Sight – blinding minds and hearts
• Sword - the Word of God – and the armour of God
• Song – your intimacy with God
• Strength - like with Samson - fooled by sweet talking Delilah
• Spiritual Receptivity - your sense of conscience; God's Guidance for your life
• Time and energy
• Liberty - to bind you and captivate you
• Knowledge of God - He wants to keep you in darkness
• Joy – so you fail to count your blessings
• Purity of your mind
• Zeal - he wants you cold about the things of God
• Gifts from God - so they get covered in the dust of neglect
• Riches in Christ - He wants you spiritual bankrupt – and miss "The unsearchable riches of Christ”
• Crown. Our Lord says, Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
The devil will look like he’s giving you something - but really he’s taking from you. Like happened with David and Bathsheba. Also, when Esau sold Jacob his birthright – he gave away his rights to blessing as the firstborn just so he could have some tasty stew.
The devil wants you to neglect you spiritual life – to be like the prodigal son - Luke 15:14 - He began to be in want… That’s what happens with sin and shame. You are getting robbed of the blessings of God every time you fall for it.
Satan has come to KILL. He is lethal, a dangerous killer, an assassin. Satan want to kill your…
• Devotion to God
• Spiritual life and growth
• Prayer life
• Thought life (Romans 8:6)
• Bible life
• The effectiveness of testimony - he hates you doing any kind of soulwinning - because that’s about sharing the life of God.
The devil wants you to spiritually die- He wants to snuff out the light of your witness. The devil wants to kill your courage - to give you fear.
Thank God we can have a spiritual bodyguard who keeps us from satan’s lethal power. God is our Refuge and Fortress - our Shield. We can be assured of His keeping - even though the devil wants to take us out. Just dwell in the secret place of the most High. Set yourself there.
The devil also wants to DESTROY. The devil wants your destruction. He's a terrorist, a wrecker. He wants to tear you apart. He can work by man’s own wilful actions - like with the prodigal Luke 15:17 …I perish with hunger! Satan’s destruction is like a perishing with hunger - he wants to starve you of spiritual truth.
It’s like the seed that fell among thorns… Luke 8:14 …they …are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. The devil doesn’t want your life to bear fruit - he wants to destroy your life in every dimension.
He wants to destroy your…
• Love, Relationships, Family
• Peace
• Purity - he wants to pollute – he works like a cancer
• Testimony - like Noah who shamed himself
• Righteousness
• Discernment - he replaces truth with deception
• Worship
• Fellowship
We are witnessing the destruction of a nation - even in our own land… The moral fabric of our nation is in tatters… Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Destruction is all around us.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil. The devil is on the loose. He wants to destroy lives, destroy relationships, destroy churches.
One of the big causes of destruction is pride: Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction… Don't fall for his tricks and lies. Be on the alert. Wake up!
Be careful - Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Even when the devil has messed us up so bad - God can remake the vessel. Jeremiah 18:6 …Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand…
In contrast to the thief… Our Lord says: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Our Lord offers life - in abundance – Eph. 3:19 …that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Look at what God abounds our lives with Abundant…
• Grace (Romans 5:15)
• Love (1 Thessalonians 3:12)
• Hope (Romans 15:13)
• Peace (Psalm 37:11)
• Pardon (Isaiah 55:7)
• Our Lord promises us Abundant Life.
• God is a giver - the opposite of satan - who wants to Steal – Kill and Destroy.

Pastor Leaves Pentecostal Error
Ex-Pentecostal Pastor addresses: what is “speaking in tongues” according to the Bible?
Our FOUNDATION must be the Bible - the sure Word of God, not subjective experience. That which is Perfect is come. The Word regulates a proper use of tongues – always to be interpreted, only one person at a time, and no women were to speak. The modern tongues movement disobeys all this.
Pentecostals teach a FILLING – that to be “baptised with the Spirit” we must “speak with tongues”. The BIBLE teaches that " by one Spirit are we ALL baptised into one Body". Clearly all DO NOT speak with tongues - 1 Cor. 12:30. Of the 16 Bible references to "Spirit filling" tongues is mentioned only once.
What is our FOCUS? It is easy to focus on Experience, Extra-Biblical Revelation, or Signs and Wonders and Manifestations. Yet the Spirit’s work is to glorify Christ. Charismatics place an UNbiblical priority on tongues. Tongues are only mentioned in Mark, Acts, and 1 Corinthians. Acts only gives 3 instances of tongues.
Tongues are FOREIGN LANGUAGES. Acts 2 records that they are known languages and dialects. It wasn’t gibberish, like the babble of today’s “tongues”.
Tongues have a God given purpose – and a FULFILMENT. In Acts 2:4 tongues were unlearned, known languages which could be understood by Jews present. In Acts 10 they were a confirming sign of the Gospel message, showing the equality of Gentile believers with Jews, by faith. In Acts 19 tongues confirmed the truth of the message and that believers of every background are equal by faith.
Tongues was a SIGN - that God had brought the Spirit, and the Church was born: Gentiles and Jews together would be one body in Christ. The Spirit confirms this - to four distinct groups: Jewish believers (Acts 2), Samaritan believers (8:17), Gentile believers (10:45-46), and the disciples of John the Baptist (19: 1-6).
Tongues was specifically a sign to UNbelievers… As per 1 Corinthians 1:22, the Jews require a sign. It was a rebuke against unbelieving Jews. Tongues is symbolic of JUDGMENT - as at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:7).
Isaiah 28:11--"For with stammering lips and another TONGUE will he speak to this people." God’s sign was FULFILLED. In 1 Corinthians 14:21-22--"In the law it is written, With men of other TONGUES and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore TONGUES are for a SIGN, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not..."
God rebuked unbelieving Israel. The foreign tongues of Pentecost was God's sign to Israel that they were rejected and the Gospel was now to go to the Gentiles in their tongues. God had set Israel aside because of their unbelief and had begun a new work with the Gentiles. The Sign was FULFILLED - in 70 AD - judgment came. Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans and the nation dispersed. There is no Biblical record of any sign manifested after this date. When the sign was fulfilled, the sign ceased.
The gift of tongues is no longer necessary today. It serves no useful purpose. Tongues were given as a sign to unbelieving Israel. This purpose has been fulfilled.
It is a historical FACT that tongues HAVE CEASED. At the end of the apostolic age the canon of scripture was completed. As per 1 Corinthians 13:8, "tongues shall cease" - literally, "cease permanently." It has ceased - it has passed away - ceased permanently!
The last recorded New Testament miracles (Acts 28:3-9) occurred around AD 58. The gift of tongues disappears from Scripture after Paul's discussion of their misuse in 1 Corinthians 14. Miracle gifts, like tongues and healings, are mentioned only in 1 Corinthians - a very early letter.
In 1 Corinthians Paul said tongues would cease, and according to history they did! Tongues begins to cease after 1 Corinthians. Peter, James, John, and Jude never mention tongues. There is no mention of tongues by early church writers. Early Christians viewed tongues as “absolutely obsolete and non-existent.”
The Bible foretells a FALLING AWAY. Christ doesn’t promise an end time outpouring of His Spirit. He tells of latter day deception (Mark 13:22). Paul’s last writings also warn of end time apostasy (1 Tim. 4:1, 2 Tim. 3:1,5, 13-17, and 2 Tim. 4:1-5). Those heralded as modern day apostles and prophets are definitely NOT alike Biblical apostles or prophets. There is no comparison.
Truly, it is a FOLLY. Charismatics advocate a "private prayer language" to converse with God. Our Lord said, When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans… Tongues is NOT a “Prayer Language”. 1 Cor. 14:14-17. Paul teaches that we pray with both our spirit AND our minds. We pray with a language understandable to our minds and to others who may hear us. Of the three instances of tongues in Acts none of these occurred in private, nor were they prayers.
Consider the FRUITS. Today's "tongues" are tied to false teaching and ecumenism.. Matthew 7:20 “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

The Prepper Church - How to Prepare for Perilous Times
Be a prepper! All call to be prepared for the coming of the Lord. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Be watching! Our Lord says, Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh. Let us keep vigilant. Watch out!
Our Lord says, Matthew 24:4 …Take heed that no man deceive you. Deception abounds with false cults , false gospels, and New Age trends. Five of the seven churches in Revelation were weighed and found wanting. Our Lord tells how, Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
We can expect distressing times; Luke 21:9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Matthew 24:6 …see that ye be not troubled.
We are seeing… manufactured crises, mandates, nanotechnology. And a lot of talk about depopulation. In fact the Book of Revelation tells of some major depopulation events - There’s almost 8 billion people on earth right now. The 4th seal will kill a fourth of the population. The 6th trumpet will kill a further third. These would basically cut the world population in half. Then bowls 6 and 7 will be even more devastating.
There’s talk of a "Great Reset", and moves to crypto currency and bitcoin. There’s a rising new World Order as governments across the globe fall into line. There’s moves to strengthen the overreaching powers of government over the people. Medical martial law. Tyranny. The United Nations plans to vaccinate children across the globe without parental consent. We are falling into line with big pharma and foreign powers dictating what we do.
We are getting used to lockdowns, shut downs, businesses closed down. Get ready for vaccine passports and digital IDs. There’s significant censorship about what we can and can’t hear. Everything is filtered. So called fact checkers are biased against the truth.
But - you ain’t seen nothing yet! The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are getting ready - conquest, war, famine and death…
Our Lord urges, Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged (burdened/weighed down) with surfeiting (a headache from drunkenness), and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares (unexpectedly/suddenly). It seems some people are going to be unprepared.
Police are forcibly entering churches and closing them down. This is not in Communist China - but in so-called free democratic nations, like Canada.
The Bible calls us to "Watch - and - Pray". Luke 21:35 For as a snare (like a trap that catches an unwary bird) shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch (keep awake - be alert - keep on the alert) ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Watching and praying are tied together. It’s been said that: “The worst sin is prayerlessness.”
There’s a Latin Proverb: “To work is to pray”. Prayer leads us to action. As well as watching. Let us be working. Matthew 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. The Lord commends the one whom his master will find at work - doing his work.
We are called to be occupied; working. Our Lord says, Luke 19:13 Occupy till I come. Our Lord tells us that night is coming, when no man can work. John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
We are called to be about the King’s business. Some Christians will say: “I’m willing to be a servant; I just don’t want to be treated like one.” May we count it a privilege to serve! The Scottish missionary, David Livingstone said: “I never made a sacrifice.” He counted his arduous labours for Christ as a privilege.
May we be trustworthy servants of God. 1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

The Fear of God
There is a fear that IS good for us. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Some people have no fear of God. Romans 3:16-18 Destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 And the way of peace have they not known: 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Hebrews 12:28 …let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire.
WHY FEAR GOD? Consider His:
1. MIGHT – His Power and Authority. God is Mighty –All-powerful. We can entrust ourselves to Him. Luke 12:5 …Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Isaiah 66:2 …but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. When we humble ourselves before our mighty God we find His strength.
We fear God because of His…
2. MAJESTY. There’s a sense of awe when we meet a VIP. How much more so ought we to fear this great king? Psalm 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. “Kiss” here signifies worship. He has the right to rule over us. Our High and Holy King calls for our allegiance.
We fear God because of His…
3. MERCY. Luke 1:50 His mercy is on those that fear Him. Hebrews 10:30-31 ...The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Men should fear the wrath to come. Thankfully, we who are saved know God not just as Powerful, as King, and as the Coming Judge, but also as our Father. He is merciful in His Judgment. We have the privilege of a Father-son relationship.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ… As God’s children we will want to please our Heavenly father. Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil.
The Fear of God leads us to...
1. WISDOM. It’s the very starting point for wisdom in life. Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
True wisdom and knowledge springs from knowing Him. Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
This fear of God leads us to:
2. WORK. We want to serve our master. Deut 10:12 …what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Joshua 24:14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served… and serve ye the LORD. The Lord calls us to a whole hearted faith and service.
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed… work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Also the Fear of God leads us to:
3. WORSHIP. To fear God means to worship Him, to revere and honour Him. Psalm 96:9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.
The fear of the Lord motivates God’s people to turn from sin, and to live right. 2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
At the cross of Calvary, we see the holiness of God and His hatred of sin. We see His terrifying judgment upon sin – and His great grace and salvation.
Here also we find:
4. WONDERFUL BLESSINGS. The fear of the Lord is healthy and wholesome. It brings blessing and security. While it is our duty to fear God, it is also our delight. Our Lord promises to bless: Psalms 115:13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
Psalm 34:9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Acts 9:31 …the churches …were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
Psalm 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
God delights in our fear of Him. Psalm 115:11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. He will be a help and a shield for you - a refuge for you. Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
Proverbs 15:16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ask the Lord for that holy fear of Him in your heart.
