静心庙 | Temple of the Tranquil Heart | Unreal Engine 5
Pronounced as "jìngxīn miào", this art piece reflects my admiration for the upcoming game, Black Myth: Wukong, and the tranquil moments spent exploring Buddhist temples in Japan. I was captivated by the imagery of a solitary Buddha, exuding majesty amidst the ancient ruins of his temple, nestled deep within a forest, where time's unyielding passage fails to tarnish his serene glory.
This was made in Unreal Engine 5 instead of Unity or Blender as a challenge to myself to do something new in this semester break. Despite its steep learning curve, I have had great fun making this scene and also managed to achieve what I envisioned for this project. I hope that you like this as much as I do!

The pure process of an amateur 3D artist recreating AI art in Blender.
Result at 48:17
------
In contrary to the popular belief that AI generated artworks are an insult to the very essence of art, I think it shows us our potential of how just how great our artworks can be. You are presented with a myriad of ideas in various styles in which you can create your art in a mouse click. It would be foolish to cast aside such a tool that allows so much experimenting and brainstorming in such a small amount of time and at such a high quality. I see the generated artworks as a goal I should reach in order to achieve the desired look in my projects. Furthermore, it is a true testament of my skills, whether I am able to successfully recreate the aesthetics illustrated by the AI or not. This is my approach in honing my artistic and technical skills in 3D Art.
This took me way too long, hence the longer video this time. Hope you guys enjoy it nevertheless!

this is what 100 hours of work looks like in 3 minutes
Boss Fight | Primordial Stirring
"How did this take you 100 hours to make?", you may ask. And to be honest, I don't know either. Behind the seemingly smooth workflow in the video lies hours of experimentation. Although I made a concept sketch on how the scene should play out, the boss didn't turn out to be quite as how I wanted it to be after modelling it, as it is my first time creating a character from scratch. It lacked namely the sharp, jagged edges on its armour that gives it an element of intimidation. Regardless, I decided to proceed with what I have as it would have taken too much time to add in those details.
As I carried on with my work, the more the scene strayed from its concept as I realised how little story my concept art told, something that I wouldn't be satisfied with. Instead of making another concept art, I decided to just experiment with what I have in the scene, changing colours, poses, lighting etc. At one point, the scene looked like a Miles Morales vs The Spot. I changed that quickly to avoid copyright issues lol.
Slowly but surely I landed upon with what you see in the final render, and I am pretty proud of it! It is most definitely my most complex piece of work so far, having not only never modelling a character from scratch before but also animating one by myself!
I hope you love it as much as I do! A little disappointed that this didn't make it into the Top 100, but there's always next time. :D

Endless Engines | Bedtime Odyssey
After hours of work and rendering, I am glad to finally be able to share my submission for the Endless Engine competition hosted by @pwnisher . Although it is my first time taking part in a creative competition of any sort, I am pleased with how it turned out in the end. Of course, there is always room for improvement and notes have already been made for the next time.
I hope you enjoy this video, feel free to drop a like and subscribe as it will mean a lot to me. I'll see you guys in the next video!
