Although the giant panda is a member of the Carnivora order, more than 99% of its diet consists of bamboo shoots and leaves. In the wild, giant pandas will eat various grasses, wild tubers, and occasionally even meat in the form of birds, rodents, or carrion. In addition to carefully prepared food, they may be fed in captivity honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges, or bananas. The giant panda can be found in central China's mountain ranges, primarily in Sichuan but also in the neighboring provinces of Shaanxi and Gansu.
