Here Author and Video Game Journalist Graeme Mason shares his own story on getting his first ZX Spectrum and the games that came with it!
This clip is from our new documentary film celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum called 'The Rubber-Keyed Wonder: 40 Years of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum'.
2022 will mark 40 years since the Sinclair ZX Spectrum was released in April 1982! The ZX Spectrum computer went onto sell over 5 million units and was one of the most important contributions in 50 years of video game history, and for many was the most important and perhaps most loved!
It wasn't just the wonderful library of computer games that sprung up because of the ZX Spectrum, but it was the chief component that kick-started the British Video Games Industry in the 1980s!
With this project, we are making a standalone 80min feature film documentary plus loads of additional featurettes and game design stories that cover a huge array of subjects all to do with our mutual love for the ZX Spectrum and put it all into one celebratory, 40th anniversary package!

Hitman: Blood Money | Dan & Ant Playthrough Pt1 | Ant & Nic's Cabin Fever
Dan Cogan is one of our oldest friends and Anthony went to school with him! Dan is one of those people that doesn't just play games, he masters them! Dan gets so good at a game that he doesn't stop playing it until he has unlocked everything and mastered it entirely, so there is nothing left to do with it. Dan was one of those who bothered to complete the Gnome challenge in Half Life 2!
We always used to enjoy Dan coming round with a game and you could just sit back and watch it being finished from beginning to end with him pointing out many elements along the way!
'Hitman: Blood Money' was such a game that when it came out in 2006 it wasn't long before this was another mastered game for Dan. Therefore when we needed some game capturing done for a film a little while back we asked Dan to come and play through Hitman: Blood Money once again so we could record it.
We wanted several of the levels captured along with a variety of different death moves and other bits along the way.
The problem was that Dan was a little rusty and had forgotten quite a bit in the 15 years since he last played it!

Rob Hubbard & Ben Daglish | From Bedrooms to Billions: Making The Music Documentary 'Remastered!'
A Remastered Version of a short film covering the making of some of the music created for our 2014 documentary film 'From Bedrooms to Billions'.
This movie soundtrack was recorded between February 2013 and June 2014. It features legendary Commodore 64 musicians Rob Hubbard and the late Ben Daglish working with the highly talented Writer/Producer Max Hall, guitarist Chris Garfield and Anthony Caulfield the co-director of the movie.
There is a huge amount of this footage leftover from these shoots including much more of Rob and Ben so we may well release more extra material from these filming sessions in the future on this channel!
Thank you to Jackie Mason and Max Hall for helping on camera duties as we were not always available!
It should also be noted that our dear friend Ben Daglish sadly passed away in 2018. Ben, a wonderful musician who created many stunning soundtracks for the Commodore 64 was a constant source of support during the making of the original film and travelled with us often helping raise production funds for the film as well as promotion afterwards.

Oliver Frey Tribute
We have just put together some unseen footage of the wonderful Oliver Frey who so sadly passed away recently
We remember when we wrote to Oli back in 2010 and first asked him if he would do some art for our new film idea (that went onto be From Bedrooms to Billions) and he agreed telling us he was honoured to be asked and we had to tell him very clearly that it was we who were honoured. Oliver went onto do several more designs for us over the years on other projects and was a total pro and always lovely to talk to!
We’re sure that many of you, like us, have been deeply saddened by his untimely passing and we very much hope this clip brings a little bit of light as Oli gets to say a few words to us all once again!
RIP Oliver Frey!

Birdman Theme on Guitar (Pilotwings N64) | Thomas Caulfield | Cabin Fever Music
Our 15 year old son Thomas Caulfield is a gifted musician, most recently playing the guitar solo on the PlayStation Revolution movie title theme for us. As we have always been N64 fans and in particular fans of the brilliant Pilot Wings game he had heard the brilliant Birdman Theme by Dan Hess many times while we played it. Recently he was asked to perform a solo piece on guitar for school so decided to devise a guitar part for the Birdman theme which he performed live recently. We were so blown away with his rendition that we asked Thomas to be our first musical performance on Cabin Fever Music.
We hope you enjoy our son Thomas performing along with the brilliant Birdman theme by Dan Hess.

Amiga 500 Gameplay Trailer | The Commodore Amiga 500 Story | The Gaming Chronicles
To coincide with the FINAL HOURS OF our Kickstarter Campaign to fund our new documentary on the Amiga 500 computer, we decided to re-edit one of our favourite trailers which was our original concept trailer for The Amiga Years movie. We have tweaked it and remastered it just for you all today!
Our new documentary project that focuses on the A500 computer will not only include a great level of detail on the hardware and the engineers involved, but will also feature a great deal of info on the games and the developers, and we felt that this trailer would help get that across.
This year is the 35th Anniversary of the Commodore Amiga 500 (released in 1987) and we have decided to launch a new series of documentaries called The Gaming Chronicles where we can use our fairly large archive to focus on specific subjects from within gaming or hardware history and for the first episode we have decided to focus on the Amiga 500.
The A500 computer when released in 1987 went onto be the most successful of the Amiga line and played a significant role in the video games industry due to the number of fantastic games created either for it or because of it.
This project will focus on why the Amiga 1000 struggled and why the Amiga 500 with it's simpler manufacturing and cheaper retail price finally saw the Amiga name really catch fire and combined with a fantastic line-up of games and other software is still so loved today, some 35 years later!
This project will cover the hardware story of the Commodore Amiga 500 and the later Amiga's in the line including the CD32 as well as what actually happened to Commodore which eventually went under in 1994.
As well as the main Amiga 500 Documentary we are also making 6 featurettes that dive deeper into specific Amiga subjects such as games, music, graphics and the Demo Scene. In addition if you can't wait until Christmas for your slice of Amiga entertainment then you can also pledge to receive a monthly Backer Pack download of Amiga Game Making ofs to give you a monthly Amiga nostalgia fix!
We have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make this new project happen, if it's for your love of the Amiga or you just want to help us realise this brand new series then please do consider supporting us by visiting our Kickstarter campaign.
We have some amazing perks which include having your face immortalised as a Cannon Fodder or Sensible World of Soccer character and the opportunity to talk to some of your Amiga heroes, artists, animators, musicians in some amazing online Q&A's and lots more!
Please consider supporting our new Commodore Amiga project here: https://t.co/BYy7CSf6NT
Music for this video is called ''Firesuite'' by the fantastic 'Doves'.

Don Reisinger on the Amiga's Innovation | The Commodore Amiga 500 Story | The Gaming Chronicles
Don Reisinger, the Former Head of Marketing for Amiga Inc, talks about the original innovative approach behind the Amiga project, which was an attempt to totally revolutionise the market based on what was around at the time.
The business machines of the early 1980's (lead by IBM and it's various clones) though leading the market didn't feature particularly impressive games, whereas the Commodore 64 though amazing for games was not exactly a business computer! The newly formed Amiga team knew that to create some for of computer that could sit in-between both markets could well corner it. This was the starting point for the Amiga Project.

RJ Mical on completing the Amiga 1000 | The Commodore Amiga 500 Story | The Gaming Chronicles
Amiga legend RJ Mical reflects on what it felt like to finally complete and release the Amiga 1000 computer in 1985. Soon after RJ and the rest of the original Amiga team started work on a new Amiga computer and this is explored in our new project which you can learn more about here: https://t.co/BYy7CSf6NT
This year is the 35th Anniversary of the Commodore Amiga 500 (released in 1987) and we have
decided to launch a new series of documentaries called The Gaming Chronicles where we can use our fairly large archive to focus on specific subjects from within gaming or hardware history and for the first episode we have decided to focus on the Amiga 500.

The Commodore Amiga 500 Story | The Gaming Chronicles | Crowdfunding Trailer
This year is the 35th Anniversary of the Commodore Amiga 500 (released in 1987) and we have had quite a few fans of our movie documentary The Amiga Years asking us to do something more with the Amiga and this interest has ramped up this year especially as we're in the 35th Anniversary year!

Creating Chaos & Lords of Chaos for the ZX Spectrum | Julian Gollop | The Rubber-Keyed Wonder Movie
Before he created the legendary game X-Com, Julian Gollop created several ZX Spectrum classic games, which includes Chaos: The Battle of Wizards in 1985 and then its follow up Lords of Chaos in 1990. In this clip Julian talks about how he developed the first game while still at university and how it ended up being one of the very first published computer games by Games Workshop. Julian then goes on to explain his work on the follow up Lords of Chaos released 5 years later in 1990.
Anyone who PRE-ORDERS our new film gets to join the production gaining IMMEDIATE ACCESS to a '1 HOUR BACKER PACK' full of clips from the upcoming film and game makings of such as Jon Ritman on Match Day 1 & 2, Steve Turner on Avalon & Astro Clone, Equinox with Raff Cecco and a lot more!
Pre-orders are available here: https://the-rubber-keyed-wonder-40-years-of-the-zx-spectrum.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
