Benjamin was rescued off of a chain the night of a massive Kentucky snow storm. Benjamin bunked on a farm for a while and after proving to be a bit too naughty with the chickens, he moved to a cozy pad in Virginia Beach where he is loved, spoiled and has become a beach bumming dog park regular. Almost 1 year ago today, 4 pups were born to a mother on a chain. 3 were rescued and one was left behind as their laws were not strong enough to protect him.The 3 rescued brothers had a much different fate than the one left behind. He was chained sometimes and let loose to roam other times, resulting in him being hit by a car. One week ago, the fourth pup, "Cuatro", had his day. These people were able to finally rescue him after almost a year of dreaming about it. Their elated tears of joy soon turned to despair as they realized there was a break in his back from the accident and were told he had no control with his anus muscles or tail. His prognosis seemed bleak. Just one short week later, his bowels are functioning almost perfectly and he miraculously is defying all odds. Cuatro was well enough to receive his first visitor at the rehab center; his brother (litter mate), Sinbad. Remember that these people were told that Cuatro would never have feeling in his tail and that amputation was suggested. It was a glorious reunion in so many ways!

An emotional yet heart-warming video emerges from a farm where one lone duckling created quite a fuss. The farmer heard the duckling and went to investigate only to find that the duckling's sibling was in trouble. The little one was stuck in the egg, unable to get free and almost perished until the farmer stepped in to save the day. The baby duckling was rushed to an incubator where it miraculously survived. Debra's shop (Dashing Dogs in Carrollton, VA) looks like a scene out of a winter blizzard after working on Halo all morning! Incredible!

The brown dog in this video grew up in a pipe with mud up to her belly along with 6 other dogs. The larger yellow dog ran wild in a pack for over a year and was finally trapped with her entire family. All were brought to Dogs Deserve Better in Smithfield, VA where their rehabilitation process began. They were weary of human touch until the newest inhabitant, Seren (short for Serendipity), joined the bunch after being rescued from a pen at a market. One never knows how or when the trust and connection break through with feral dogs will occur but when it does, it's a magical moment. Today, little Seren earned her keep at the center by showing the older dogs that humans were not to be feared here. All dogs were successfully rehabilitated and adopted into loving families.

The phrase "I live for coffee!" Is especially true for Roso, the Spinone Italiano who was diagnosed with the aggressive bone cancer, osteasarcoma a month ago. He was given 2 weeks to live. His owners noticed that he got super excited when a cup of decaf with Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Creamer was around. So excited that even though his shoulder has a fracture from the cancer, he'd get up to steal their coffee. He became so obsessed with it that they give him his own cup every morning. Today was a little hard to get out of bed so his mamma brought it to him. As long as Roso is still wagging his tail, not exhibiting signs of major pain and still drinking his coffee, his owners will treasure every moment. ❤️

So, his great escape has been planed, put into motion and he surely finds a way to leap out of that "monstrous place". We all have that special nook in the house that is ours and no one else’s.
