Here's some footage I took from our family trip to the northwoods.

Corey and I hit up a trout stream on a rainy morning.

Getting late in the season without filling a single deer tag, I whack a nubby that I passed up early on. Fresh delicious organic protein will now reside in my freezer.

I had hoped to find success using crappie jigs for trout. I found mixed results instead. The biggest fish I caught was on a crappie jig, but it didn't work in the areas I thought it would shine. Mostly I think it was due to a lack of bigger fish in those areas. It looked like the stretches had high pressure and may have just been fished out. There were a ton of little fish, but I didn't see anything over a foot long on either section. I may try them again at some point on a different stream.

I went sucker fishing this morning for the first time this spring. The action was far from fast and furious, but I ended up with two redhorse, a sucker, and a perch that was going to die. The perch started biting and I missed most of the hook sets on them. If they were bigger, I wouldn't have minded them. All in all it was a good morning by the river.

Found some oysters growing on some dead elm in the backyard. Good thing I'm behind on my woodsplitting! I picked the biggest one and we did a taste test.

Hit up a stream this morning and got my limit of 3 browns. Also caught a brookie and had an unintentional release on the second brown I caught. I lost my favorite spinner in a tree, and then after I tied a new spinner on I proceeded to catch two browns in short order. A good morning!

8/11/18 Today we tried to get my son his first brook trout. Although small, the mission was successful. He got two of 'em. We were in a small stream in central Wisconsin.

Here's how my trapping season went. Pretty slow! There's too much to do this time of year, and 12 hour shifts get in the way of having too many traps out. I had some more canine sets out, but they didn't produce either. Looking forward to next season, but there's a chance I still might snap another otter or a beaver before the end of March.

Manguy and I got out sucker fishing. We caught 4 suckers, 3 redhorse, a bullhead, and Manguy's biggest fish!

John recently took his new GoPro on vacation with him to Wyoming. This trip will be broken into parts. Enjoy the scenery!

Got after some brown trout this morning. Didn't get a lot, but was happy with the ones I did get. Both the ones I took home were over 14". I measured them more accurately before I cleaned 'em. It was a good morning. As is usually the case, when the sun started getting high the fish shut down.

This will be the last ice fishing video for me until next winter. Ended it on a good note.

Hit up open water for the first time this year. John & I went to Eureka to fish for walleyes on the Fox. There were a lot of people, but not many fish. I caught a good one, and I only saw 2 others caught. It's still early.

A better outing than the last. Kept a 13" brown, and caught some dinks.

Did some ice fishing today and caught my personal best bluegill. Corey outfished me, but catching a 10 inch bluegill was great.

Here I hit up a short stretch of water and caught a few browns.

Hit a stream up for trout this morning. Didn't have too much success. Here are the highlights.

Ash retrieves the bumper that my two chins and I throw him. He's making progress. He needs to get some confidence in swimming, and then we'll work on making sure he's not gun shy.

Went back to Poygan today and was blessed with another limit of 'eyes. Plus, a bonus white bass. It was an enjoyable morning!
