Natural Chick Feed
A video clip showing you an all natural option, which baby chicks love waaaaaaay more than anything storeboughten.
/ WARNING, to those of you who may be squeamish /
If you have a natural / old school lifestyle, or are trying to create one for yourself.... take your butchering scraps, put them aside. Nature will do the rest, via innoculating with maggot larvae. Your chicks will be "fat & happy" because of it 😃
One thing I've learned is, "to keep life simple", using Mother Nature as your guide. Fighting nature, is a never ending battle, which "you shall NEVER win". It's also why I do not believe in peace, nor veganism... Seriously, if you can't even have it within your own body (the human digestive system is a very violent place), don't expect in in real life... especially when it comes to the subject of "survival".
Other than that, have a wonderful day, and happy poultry raising to you and yours .
Sincerely,
Wildernessgal M

Video Short: Rooing & the Preorbital gland on an Icelandic sheep
The natural old world "rooing" harvesting process, instead of the modern shearing of wool fiber (not all sheep do this) , and a closer look at the "preorbital gland" on a primitive Icelandic sheep. 😉
My apologies for the lower quality video (cell phone editor degraded quality sadly 🙄 /deleted the original). It still makes for an interesting video, for those whom have never heard of "rooing" , nor know what a "preorbital gland" is on this primitive breed of sheep.

Video Short: Skinning out a fat tail from a "fat tail Karakul sheep"
Skinning out a "fat tail" from a "fat tail Karakul sheep" (lamb). The fat content of an adult tail, will be much greater.
We meant to make a video including "the finished product"... Let's just say "it was so "aromatic & tasty", that it was never photographed lol 😂🤣
May you enjoy these videos (links below) instead. Of course, I promise to do better next time. 😉

Bourbon Red Poults (Heritage Turkey Breed)
The "Bourbon Red", is a lovely Heritage Turkey Breed. It always amazed me, how a neighbor, of several years ago, had them EVERYWHERE! Roaming his farm, along the roadside.... They were prolific, beyond words ha ha ha and constantly foraging for themselves. 👍😉😃 Definitely a "Sustainable, Self Reliant, Self-Perpetuating Breed", which retains it's breeding/mothering abilities. Those qualities can be hard to find now a days ...
Thought I would "share" a "Bourbon Red Turkey Poult Short", taking them out, after the storms, to "indulge in the natural greens which they adore"... 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱💚 😃 Enjoy!

White Chinese Geese
White Chinese Geese - Excellent vision, smart, used as guardians, one of the most prolific layers, capable of reproducing on their own. The latter is a trait, many modern "improved bird breeds have sadly lost".
Of the "Anser cygnoides" type , they are hardy, wonderful for self reliance, due to their passion for fresh greens... Definitely a great candidate for pasture based poultry, also eat bugs, will harvest edibles from bushes ... Be mindful that they can girdle / kill small fruiting bushes, vines & trees (so protect your plantings) , if you are using them as weeder geese. 😉
I first raised them back in the 1970's. Some say geese are wickedly mean, but if they know you, don't expect problems (hand raising is the best). Now if they have babies, "stay back", as they will protect them. 😉 If you are a trespassing stranger, "GOOD LUCK"🙏🙏🙏 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Out of all geese breeds we have ever raised throughout the years...this is the one, which is worthy of having a place on our family farm. Highly recommend : )

Wu Gu Ji 烏骨雞 , aka Silkie Chickens
Wu Gu Ji 烏骨雞 stands for "black boned chicken", which is used in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). The black meat and broth from these primitive black boned, polydactyl birds, have been famously known as a curative since ancient times ... Not only have the momma hens retained much of their broody instincts to reproduce (unlike the majority of modern day poultry), but the eggs are also higher in amino acids.

"Old School Minimalist Garden Tools - High wheel aka Push Plow"
Going BACKWARDS, to move FORWARD...during these crazy modern times.
This is a a new garden bed which has only been plowed once. So it needs some more work yet.
Just a quick video example of gardening/working the soil, in a minimalist fashion, with old fashioned simpleton/effective equipment (which does not need gasoline). 😉
#OldSchoolGardeningTools #HighWheel #PushPlow #Gardening
Please forgive me for the quality. An editor I experimented with, deleted the original high quality version/instead saving a low quality copy. 🙄☹️ In all honesty, the low quality , is still effective enough, to demonstrate "ease in use".
If this interests you, keep your eyes peeled, as you just may be lucky enough to find a vintage high wheel, looking for a new home at a yard sale, junk or second hand store. : )

My apologies for the simpleton low tech mini video. Wanted to share an image of my healthy "Jun Mother". 😃
Eventually I hope to make higher quality videos once again, with something other than a cheap cell phone. ha ha
Of course, that will have to wait for now, as it's at the bottom of our family priority list.
Take care and here is to our health ♥️🙏
