Dr. Byram Bridle, Associate Professor of viral immunology at the University of Guelph returns for a very highly anticipated response and a critical, live saving update. Dr Bridle honestly and openly states that he is particularly passionate about effects of isolation policies on children. His research program focuses on the development and optimization of immunization strategies where he was commissioned by the Ontario and federal governments to generate novel COVID-19 vaccines. There are few people in a position to speak to the current events or the potential for damage than Dr Bridle. The problem now is that Dr Bridle is experiencing a steady barrage of slander, defamation and threats of assault! Dr Pelech is a Ph.D. President & Chief Scientific Officer at Kinexus Bioinformatics, Professor, Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University of British Columbia, Senate Representative for Faculty of Graduate and Post-doctoral Studies. He is joining us because he has some general thoughts about why more younger people are appearing in hospitals with COVID-19, and why he has concerns about vaccinating younger people with what are still experimental vaccines, in which we do not know about long term efficacy or adverse reactions, such as the development of autoimmunity. His research has focused on the identification of the parts of the virus that people make antibodies against. To that end, in his lab he has developed a highly accurate and sensitive test for determining if a person has been infected with the virus or has developed antibodies from vaccination. To his surprise, he has tested hundreds of people in B.C. now, and finds that most of these healthy people already have antibodies that recognize these proteins. He has started testing people that have been vaccinated, and some of these individuals don’t have antibodies against the spike protein of the virus. We have also been studying the mechanism by which it is able to replicate in infected cells, which has identified some promising new strategies to treat patients.
