Elena, our club’s own superstar, is Moms for Liberty Chapter Chair for Queens County. She was on the panel of a special Moms for Liberty Townhall meeting on January 18th at the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Assoc. The purpose of the event was to openly discuss and debate the “real challenges facing public education.” Instead the UFT, media, and NYC politicians, who were openly invited, launched a diabolical smear campaign and tried to shut down the event, which was met by over 100 protesters shouting obscenities and insults. Elena regaled us with the exciting details of the tremendously successful event despite the harassment.

Other Republican candidates spoke as well, including Tom Zmich for Congress, Kenneth Chiu for Assembly, Rob Speranza for Assembly, and we were graced with the presence of Jude Elie, candidate for president of Haiti.

The Empire State Development has released a "Master Plan" for the redevelopment of the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center campus, which would create a devastating density issue in our local suburban area, which regrettably, was undertaken without community input first.

The Queens Village Republican Club hosted a toy drive with US Marine Corps Reservists collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program at the Christmas/Chanukah Party. The mission of Toys for Tots, a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, is to collect new, unwrapped toys each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community, in order to bring joy and hope to children in America!

Senator Martins, Republican State Senator for the 7th District (Northern Nassau), and former mayor of Mineola, spoke about NYS where things have taken a turn for the worst, as many residents are fleeing, but we won't leave. We will stay, we fight and speak out for what we believe is a better way for the Empire State!
