Newly elected Caroline Parker is the ONLY female council member in Charleston, SC City Council. On January 25th, a colleague, Mr. Gregorie, coaxed Mayor John Tecklenburg into expelling her from the chambers and executive session because of her mask exemption. Councilman Gregorie has made no secret of his disdain for Mrs. Parker in the recent past. Mayor Tecklenburg made it a point to say that masks must be worn UNLESS one is speaking...which is antithetical to the most basic scientific understanding of surgical masks and obviously makes no sense. After Mrs. Parker was expelled from the chamber, the other members of council (all male) could be seen with their own masks off for extended periods of time throughout the meeting. There is a lot of confusion regarding what took place in #charlestonsc today. A protest and march was held, in opposition to the American Jury Syatem Of Justice, and opposing the #rittenhouseverdict. The organizer of the march was arrested by City of Charleston Police Department after an argument of Supreme Court Precedent, and the newest version of City of Charleston, SC Government 's protest/march ordinances, and refusing what COD says was a "lawful order" not to go down King Street. Protesters did so anyway.arching down King Street has not been allowed sinc ethe riots of May, 2020, when the businesses on that street took the brunt of the destruction. This Video shows the initial argument, leading to the decision to march, and the arrest that followed.
