I had laid out a route to pass by 3 ponds that were in Gaia GPS, but to my surprise, I found a fourth which was very cool. I stopped for lunch next to a fallen log and had my favorite Peak Refuel Meal: Homestyle Chicken and Rice. We have gatherings twice a year for YouTubers and Subscribers to come together and camp and enjoy a family friendly atmosphere. The purpose of this is to further build relationships and a community of people who love the outdoors and also love to watch videos about the outdoors. We will have a giveaway and some other activities that will be a lot of fun so don’t miss this. The event will begin on Friday April 28th, at the Blackwell Horse camp in the Charles C Deam Wilderness Area. This is a free campsite with vault toilets only so please make sure you bring enough water, shelter, and supplies for a full weekend of camping. The giveaway will be on Saturday. #thathikingguy #Firsttripof2023 #wintercamping So for the first trip of 2023, I have to report that it was really fun and chaotic LOL. Our plan was to go to the Charles C Deam Wilderness and camp in a place we call the "Pinegrove." It is a camp spot we have not visited in a while and I was pretty excited to be able to get out of the house after a month of Flu, C19, and a Pinched Nerve in my back. Our buddy Hoot on the Trail had a friend who was coming with us named Bobby who is a really cool dude. When we got to the campsite, there was a guy already there named Dan. Turns out Dan watches my channel and recognized me. I asked him if it was okay if we camped with him. Originally he was planning on leaving but he decided to camp and hang out with us. The jury is still out on whether that was a good idea for him or not but I am glad he stayed. Overall, it was a fantastic overnighter and we ate well, stayed warm, and had a great time. I love finding very cool products that make camping and backpacking easier and more covienient. This Luminaid Titan is one of those products. I had lost the joy of doing that and replaced it with just hiking to camp. I missed it, so this Black Friday I decided to get out on the sycamore trail in the Charles C. Deam Wilderness and do the trail that started it all. I can tell you all I have a fantastic time and I do plan to do more of this type of thing. It was very enjoyable and brought back great memories.
