For the first time, astronomers can accurately predict the explosion of a certain star system within a specific time frame. According to a study published four years ago, two stars will fuse in 2022, resulting in a tremendous explosion in the sky. It is the first time a red nova was predicted to be visible to the naked eye. Astronomers have only recently been able to see such mergers taking place, thanks to ongoing developments in instruments and technology.
