Max and Hunter Mushing Adventures
Wow, these two are amazing. We havent been able to run for 6 days (had a neutered husky on max sedatives and observation). Normally, we are too crazy if we dont run every day. But these guys have been watching me walking a post-surg pup around every day, patiently waiting around and lounging respectfully. Huskys aren't patient! This was a very special gift and I SO thank them!
We didnt have our 3rd happy go lucky companion today (still recovering fully), so the lines i made for 3 dogs are sagging and dragging on the ground too much. So, we found a way to just tie off in the cab and let the bungee hang high. This was mile 8 of 10 and they dont pull much by now.
Tundra, I call him Hunter, on the left has been mushing about 3 mo now. Max, on the right, has been mushing about 7 years now. I never taught them the "over" command and you can see an opportunity presents itself during the last part of the video. Hunter sees a jack rabbit on the left! In spirit, his head is exploring everywhere but on the lines. His body trots forward magically with some kind of hidden intelligence. Max has always been "all business" on the trail. He maintains a purposeful 5mph trot and is an excellent pacesetter for Hunter. Max looks forward and has an appointment somewhere in Alaska that we should have left for...yesterday. He can cruise all day like this. It is a great conditioning exercise and a very happy ending for these rescue dogs! ❤

Loki's 2nd Adventure Run with Big Dogs Pt 2
I think this is a brief glimpse at a possibly-getting-tired doggy?? I say possibly, because this is the first time he actually looked back at us and "checked in" visually. We are pretty much ignored prior to this excerpt. Ah, to be able to tire out a husky...so rewarding! They dont like couches. They love to explore!!

Loki's 2nd Adventure Run with the Big Dogs
Loki has been learning basic commands on a leash, and mushing commands in front of my bike. Although he is not able to pull hard, he is loving the "idea" of mushing. This was his 2nd trip trotting behind the big dogs. He has come so far in 3 weeks and these dogs are bred for this strong desire to "go"! Okie-Dokie Loki!

Loki's Debut Run with the Big Dogs Pt1
Loki is a very energetic 8mo puppy who recently escaped his owner and was picked up by the pound. He was then surrendered to me by his owner so I could see if he would like a mushing job. Because he is still growing, he doesnt wear a pulling harness and has been learning basic commands on the leash, then bikejoring, and today has put together all his experiences by trotting along the mushing harness with the big doggies. He loved it! Woohoo, good boy Loki
