Archaeologists have Uncovered What
Locals = https://sweethomesa.locals.com/

Archaeologists have uncovered what is thought to be the world's oldest known wood structure, whose estimated age suggests woodworking is at least 175,000 years older than our species. A research team discovered five very old pieces of wood in waterlogged sediment near Zambia's Kalambo Falls in an area that has previously given up wooden artifacts and stone tools. Through luminescence dating—a method used to determine when trace amounts of radioactive isotopes in sediments were last exposed to sunlight or heat—archaeologists determined that one cut log and a tapered piece of wood were 324,000 years old, a digging stick was 390,000 years old, and a wedge and two interlocking logs were 476,000 years old, per Live Science.
Archaeologists found evidence that stone tools were used to form a U-shaped notch, allowing one log to lie on top of the other at a 75-degree angle. "When I first saw it, I thought this can't be real," University of Liverpool archaeologist Larry Barham, lead author of a study published Wednesday in Nature, tells the Guardian. There are "no known parallels in the African or Eurasian Palaeolithic," a period that spans millions of years up to about 12,000 years ago, according to the study. Researchers suggest the structure was part of "a raised platform, walkway or foundation for dwellings" in a "periodically wet floodplain." You might expect Homo sapiens to be able to build such a structure. But it's believed Homo sapiens didn't emerge until 300,000 years ago. Homo heidelbergensis roamed the region nearly 500,000 years ago.
It was previously thought that these early humans were nomadic foragers without much technological skill. But "the wood and the stone suggest a high level of ingenuity, technological skill and planning," Barham tells the Guardian. And "the rarity of wood preservation implies that such behaviors were more widespread than what we witness in the archaeological record," adds Annemieke Milks, an archaeologist at the University of Reading, who was not involved in the study. Researchers were impressed by the other wood artifacts as well. A split branch with a notch might have formed part of a trap, while a log cut at both ends "might be a work surface," speculates Barham, who is working to get Kalambo Falls classified as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Michael Cohen says He Caught the Government Trying to do What?
Locals = https://sweethomesa.locals.com/
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/michael-cohen-says-he-caught-the-government-trying-to-hide-more-than-480-000-documents/ar-AA1h4yZG?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=6cb075b4e3b74a84ab10a825f12eaa6e&ei=50
Former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen caught the government trying to hide 480,000 documents, he clained in a post on MeidusTouch.
Cohen, who hosts his podcast "Mea Culpa" for Meidus, wrote about his ongoing war with the government to obtain documents related to his challenge to the demand he not speak out about his experience with Trump.
Cohen has been after the official documents from the DOJ and the Treasury Department from the moment he was released from prison.
"First, FOIA stated that after a lengthy search, there were no documents found responsive to the request," wrote Cohen on Thursday. "After presenting documents in my possession via attorney Mark Zaid, miraculously, an apology was offered along with an acknowledgment that there are documents responsive to the request…in fact, more than 480,000."
He wrote that the government then said they could limit the searches further to navigate the volume. Given the government is extremely understaffed, they explained that they could only process up to 500 documents per month.
"After removing certain search terms including grand jury document requests, the number of responsive documents was reduced to approximately 49,000," said Cohen. Pursuant to the Court’s directive, processing of said documents was to begin August 23, 2022. Despite more than 14 months since the Court’s directive, not a single FOIA document has been turned over."
Adam Pakula, a probation officer with the United States Probation and Pretrial Services (“PTS”), told Cohen in 2020 that he was taking over the release. Cohen was called down to the office under the guise that he must "sign paperwork," but the contract forced Cohen to swear he wouldn't speak to the media or write a book about Trump.
[Signatory agrees that there will be] [n]o engagement of any kind with the media, including print, tv, film, books, or any other form of media/news. Prohibition from all social media platforms. No posting on social media and a requirement that you communicate with friends and family to exercise discretion in not posting on your behalf or posting an information about you. The purpose is to avoid glamorizing or bringing publicity to your status as a sentenced inmate serving a custodial term in the community.
According to Cohen's previous lawsuit, this isn't in the language for any other agreement for release issued by the Bureau of Prisons. The two-page Federal Location Monitoring Program Participant Agreement (FLM) also "contained grammatical and typographical errors," the suit adds. "And had no legend identifying its federal form designation. It was clear to Mr. Cohen and his counsel that Defendants were hastily attempting to unlawfully restrict his right to free speech."
In April, Cohen went to court to demand to know who was ordering his silence. It failed. He appealed, only for it to fail again.
Since then, Cohen has been fighting to find any information about his imprisonment and the kind of non-publishing agreement that he would be required to sign.
In 2018, American Oversight filed its own Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request asking about details involving Cohen's case. Reps. Ted Lieu (D-CA) and Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also sent a letter to the Office of the Inspector General on July 24, 2020, asking for information on the decision to try and restrict Cohen's movements.
Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, in July 2022, also asked for answers from the inspector general of the Treasury Department, who was exploring if Trump weaponized the IRS against his foes. Former Trump chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, outed Trump to The New York Times that the former president asked the IRS to audit Cohen, along with many others.
"In light of the revelations that two prominent officials who President Donald Trump openly wanted prosecuted were both subjected to rare and rigorous audits by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), I would appreciate your office also reviewing the procedure by which Michael Cohen, former attorney to President Trump, was selected for investigation," says the letter Cohen gave to Raw Story at the time.
Cohen wrote the importance of transparency, but the documents would also prove Trump's use of the government to target him unfairly after Cohen flipped.
"The lack of transparency in my FOIA case reflects broader challenges faced by citizens in accessing government documents," wrote Cohen. "A renewed commitment to transparency is necessary, as an informed citizenry is vital for a functioning democracy. By fostering openness, the US government can rebuild trust and ensure the accountability that citizens deserve. Government must immediately stop pretending that transparency exists and actually do something to ensure it does."

NASA Has Just Discovered the Strongest Proof of Alien Life
Locals = https://sweethomesa.locals.com/
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/nasa-has-just-discovered-the-strongest-proof-of-alien-existence-so-far/ar-AA1h4gZb?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=0fbd7d40fb58434298c2663f44acca1e&ei=80
Do aliens exist, or are they a figment of our imaginations? This question has been the subject of debate for many years. While several conspiracy theorists have stated that these extraterrestrials are real, others such as SpaceX's CEO, Elon Musk, find this assertion ridiculous.
"I think if anyone would know about aliens on Earth it would probably be me. Yeah, I'm, you know, very familiar with space stuff. And I've seen no evidence of aliens…" Elon Musk once said.
Before now, NASA has been unwavering in their stance that there is no evidence to prove the existence of aliens. However, a recent finding may have them changing their position on the subject soon.
NASA, in a tweet on September 11, has revealed molecule traces of Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in one of the planets that orbit around the stars. DMS is a molecule that exists in many natural sources and is produced by living organisms, especially those in marine environments such as phytoplanktons.
A James Webb Space Telescope has analyzed an exoplanet identified as K2-18 b and revealed the presence of DMS in its atmosphere. If this finding is confirmed, it will be the strongest proof of life outside Earth.
This is especially as an investigation carried out by JWST has proven the presence of carbon dioxide, methane, and other carbon-bearing molecules in the exoplanet. With these findings, one can reasonably conclude that K2-18 b is a "Hycean" exoplanet with liquid oceans on its surface and hydrogen in its atmosphere.
According to a University of Cambridge astronomer, Professor Nikku Madhusudhan, the findings "underscore the importance of considering diverse habitable environments in the search for life elsewhere." "Traditionally, the search for life on exoplanets has focused primarily on smaller rocky planets, but the larger Hycean worlds are significantly more conducive to atmospheric observations," the university don added.
However, NASA has issued a caveat. In its tweet, the space agency stated that "while K2-18 b is in the habitable zone (where conditions are right for liquid water to exist), that does not necessarily mean it can support life. For instance, it may have a hostile environment due to its active star. Its ocean may also be too hot to be habitable."
K2-18 b, often referred to as a sub-Neptune, orbits its cool dwarf K2-18 star in the Leo constellation. This exoplanet is nearly nine times the size of the Earth and 120 light years away from our planet.
The exoplanet isn't well understood because of how scarce sub-Neptunes are in our solar system vicinity. Regardless, this new discovery is an exciting one that may lead us closer to the end of the debate on alien existence.
As Professor Madhusudhan points out, "Upcoming Webb observations should be able to confirm if DMS is indeed present in the atmosphere of K2-18 b at significant levels. Our findings are a promising step towards a deeper understanding of Hycean worlds in this quest." Until more conclusive findings are made, we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Kari Lake Witnesses Update

A Maricopa County, Arizona judge on Thursday rejected three of Kari Lake's witnesses and their testimonies at the Republican's third trial related to her 2022 defeat in Arizona's gubernatorial race.
As RawStory reports, Lake's latest lawsuit's trial kicked off with a Thursday hearing, for which her attorney, Brian Blehm, sought to have the state release ballot envelopes signed by about 1.3 million early voters.
Superior Court Judge John Hannah, however, shook up those plans when he deemed two of Lake's witnesses — Erich Speckin, a forensic document analyst, and Chris Handsel, a software consultant — irrelevant to the trial. He then homed in on witness Shelby Busch, a participant in the Cyber Ninjas computer security firm's voting audit, whom Hannah singled out as an especially irrelevant witness.
"On this one, I'm inclined to go a step further because she's so obviously — she's a medical office manager," Hannah said. "I mean, she's so obviously unqualified that I kind of find a need to make a finding about that, as well as that her testimony is irrelevant. I mean, she's not even in the ballpark." Though Blehm countered that Busch had a lot of experience "under her belt as someone who does investigations into elections," including her work with the now-defunct Cyber Ninjas, Hannah was not impressed. He swiftly granted the motion to exclude Busch from the batch.

Comet Bennu

Researchers have determined the precise date when an asteroid could potentially impact Earth, carrying with it a power equivalent to that of 22 atomic bombs. This celestial object, named Bennu, approaches our planet every six years. However, scientists believe that September 24, 2182, could be the date when there is a real risk of collision between Earth and the asteroid.
Despite the potential date of the apocalyptic event being far off, NASA is currently engaged in intense efforts to deflect the asteroid Bennu and is in the final phase of its mission. Seven years ago, the American space agency launched a probe towards the asteroid with the goal of collecting samples, with the hope that the gathered information could help prevent a possible catastrophic encounter.
Asteroids have hit the Earth many times throughout the years.
