Golden Retriever takes the meaning of "corn dog" to a whole new meaning
Ever since Willow, the golden retriever, was a young pup, she would always hop up onto a small shelf under the dining room table whenever her owners were eating. She would never beg, but she would sit quietly under the table until everyone was done eating. Often, Willow's owners would find her sound asleep under the table after they were finished their meal. She was so cute!
Fast forward 5 years, and Willow is still crawling up on that small shelf, despite her being a full grown dog! It takes her a while to climb up on the shelf, wiggling herself around until she is finally settled in. Now that she's full grown, her muzzle often finds its way into your lap during dinner. She's still as cute as ever.
The summer harvest is starting to yield fantastic corn on the cob this year and tonight Willow was treated to her very own cob of corn. Will she eat it like a typewriter, or does she go around the world? Watch the video to see! In no time flat, she's expertly eaten that cob of corn - her hoomans couldn't have done it better!
Good girl Willow!

Magical spinning fork totally defies gravity
Every once in a while we bear witness to an event that seem to defy every known law to man. Quite often, these events are deemed to be magical, or even a miracle as we try to understand what we have witnessed. This spinning fork is one such event.
On what seemed to be an average outing to a local restaurant, this patron discovered her cutlery seemed to be magnetized. As she picked up her knife, the fork slid towards the knife and stuck to the butt end of the knife. As she raised her knife, the fork lifted off the table and stayed suspended beneath the knife.
As the ends of the fork and knife are both rounded, it was amazing to see the fork stayed connected to the knife by such a tiny amount of contact. It seemed to defy the laws of physics!
What she did next made everything magical! She reached forward and gently spun the fork causing it to spin beneath the knife. You would expect the fork to go crashing to the table due to its weight – but instead, the fork spun effortlessly and quietly beneath the knife as if some magical, unforeseen force, other than magnetism, were at play. This is such an amazing sight, we bet you’ll have to watch it twice!
It is not uncommon to find restaurant cutlery magnetized. There are currently two theories as to how this happens: the cutlery catcher magnet theory and the ball burnishing theory.
Restaurants often use a cutlery catcher magnet placed over a trashcan. As uneaten food is scraped into the trashcan, cutlery often falls off of plates and into the trashcan. In order to prevent the cutlery from winding up in the trash, a magnetized metal cone is placed over the bin. As cutlery falls in, the magnetized cone grabs the cutlery, preventing it from dropping into the trashcan.
A more plausible explanation is that the cutlery is magnetized at the time of manufacture. After cutlery is made, it passes through a ball burnisher which finish polishes the forks, knives and spoons. The burnisher contains thousands of small beads that are moved around by positively and negatively charged magnets underneath. As the cutlery moves through the beads, a magnetic charge is imparted into the cutlery.
Regardless how this fork and knife wound up magnetized, it’s truly an amazing and magical sight to see it spinning effortlessly in the air!

Rescued baby squirrel eats and cuddles for nap
This poor baby squirrel was found cold, hungry and hairless on a couple's side porch in mid spring. Initially the couple left the baby squirrel to see if his mother would locate it and return it to the nest, but after a few days it became apparent that this baby squirrel had been abandoned by it's mother. We're not sure why this baby squirrel had been abandoned, but it was clear that he needed help. Otherwise it would not survive the cold spring climate.
When the baby squirrel was first found, he was hairless, which made it easy to see that he was quite skinny and needed food and water. It was cold and shaking. Taking the baby squirrel into their home, they began caring for and feeding the squirrel, giving him a warm place to live and grow. Slowly over time, he began to regain his strength.
We can see in this video the baby squirrel is being hand-fed from a syringe and at one point, takes the syringe into his own hands to feed. His little hands are adorable! He has one voracious appetite. After the squirrel has a full belly, he hops down to the blankets below, searches for an opening in the blanket and cuddles in for a well deserved nap. Sweet dreams baby squirrel!
Squirrels can sometimes lose their hair for a number of reasons, such as mange infections brought on by nest mites, fungal infections or it can be inherited from their parents. There is very little we can do to help with this condition. Over time the hair will gradually grow back in the absence of the conditions that caused it.

Drone view of mother heron guarding her nest high
Passing over the tree tops in central Florida, a DJI Mavic Air drone spotted a view rarely seen by ornithologists and bird watchers alike - an occupied Great Blue Heron nest. Great blue herons nest in the tree tops making it difficult for bird watchers to get a great view of their nesting habits as well as the maternal instincts of the females. Here we can see a female who has arrived at a nest and will soon be laying her eggs.

Florida gator lunges at drone!
While out flying his drone in the beautiful Florida sunshine, a videographer spotted 2 alligators sunbathing on a small island in central Florida. Going in for a closer look yielded a great closeup view of the alligators that most people don't get a chance to do safely in the wild.
Zooming in on the biggest alligator first, the drone pans slowly to the second alligator who is taking in the warm sunshine on a slightly elevated island from the first. Both seem unconcerned that the other is there.
As the drone pauses and takes in this amazing animal, the alligator suddenly lunges at the drone but misses and dives into the murky water. A close call for the drone operator that left him shaking in the excitement! Never underestimate the speed of alligators, both in the water and on land. They are exceptionally fast animals, able to outrun a human and did you know they are quite adapt at climbing?!
The American Alligator, or Gator, as they are more commonly known, is crocodilian reptile that is found in the southeastern United States. Adult male American alligators measure 11 to 15 ft in length, and can weigh up to 453 kg (1,000 lb). Females are smaller, measuring around 9.8 ft in length.
American alligators are apex predators and consume fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Hatchlings feed mostly on invertebrates. They play an important role as ecosystem engineers in wetland ecosystems through the creation of alligator holes, which provide both wet and dry habitats for other organisms.
Throughout the year, but particularly during the breeding season, American alligators bellow to declare territory and locate suitable mates. Male American alligators use infrasound to attract females. Eggs are laid in a nest of vegetation, sticks, leaves, and mud in a sheltered spot in or near the water. Young are born with yellow bands around their bodies and are protected by their mother for up to one year.
Alligator courtship begins in late March into early April with breeding occurring in May and June. From the look of the alligators in this video, we very well may have caught a male and female showing some interest in each other as the courtship season begins.

Fisherman Catches Majestic Bonnethead Shark
It was a hot and sunny spring day in March on the gulf beaches of Fort De Soto Park in beautiful Florida. North Beach was filling up fast, but three enthusiastic fishermen took advantage of the day to do some shore fishing. The fishing began slow until something hit one of the fisherman's lines hard. His two friends brought in their lines dropped their rods on the beach and ran over to give their friend a hand.
With his rod bent over, the battle with the unknown sea creature began. The battle raged for approximately 10 minutes when a fellow beachgoer took out his phone to record the final few seconds of the fight. When the unknown sea creature was finally brought into shallow waters, it was discovered that the fisherman had a bonnethead shark on the end of his line! The fisherman worked quickly to bring the shark to shore, in order to free it from the hook and safely return it to the warm waters off the coast of Florida. What a thrill of a lifetime to land one of these majestic sharks from shore!
The bonnethead shark is found in tropical and subtropical waters on both coasts of North America, from North Carolina to southern Brazil, including the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, and from Southern California to Ecuador. It lives in estuaries and shallow bays with mud or sand bottoms and in coral reefs. It primarily eats crustaceans but has been known to also eat clams, octopuses and small fish.
Fortunately for the beachgoers as well as the fishermen, the bonnethead shark is harmless to humans!

Jumbo jet barrels towards mountain during extreme takeoff
The beautiful Caribbean island of St. Maarten boasts one of the most popular and extreme airports in the world - the Princess Juliana International Airport. St. Maarten is part of the Netherlands, located in the eastern islands of the Caribbean and can be found just east of Puerto Rico. The island is home to approximately 34,000 inhabitants and is a very popular destination for cruise ships and holiday travellers.
Princess Juliana International Airport annually sees around 2 million travellers pass through its terminal during 60,000 aircraft movements. What makes the airport so extreme and popular amongst aircraft enthusiasts is it's location. At 7,546 feet long, the runway is only 14 feet above see level and the taxiway/runway is only a scant 70 meters from a popular beach on the island.
The airport only has a single runway orientated in an east/west direction. Runway 10 faces the east and is by far one of the most extreme runways in the world. Jumbo jets landing on Runway 10 fly just meters over the beach creating a breath-taking spectacle for onlookers.
Runway 10 is also extreme for another reason - it's takeoffs. Here in this video we watch an American Airlines jet taxiing onto Runway 10 in front of onlookers. Beach goers enjoy lining the beach during takeoffs - many of them getting blown into the sea from the jet wash. Signs on the airport's fence warn beach goers of the dangers of doing so. As the jet engines wind up for take off and the jet starts barrelling down the runway, viewers can quickly see why this is an extreme airport - the mountain at the end of Runway 10!
Pilots have to quickly reach takeoff speed and rotate into a very steep climb in order to safely clear the mountain. It's definitely not a takeoff for the faint of heart!

Massive white rhino with huge horn bluff charges another rhino
In this short video clip we see a male white rhino going about its' day, when out of the left, another massive male white rhino rushes in and bluff charges the unsuspecting rhino. The unsuspecting rhino turns to face the charge, but the charging rhino pulls up and turns away. It's uncertain if this was out of play, or a legitimate charge, but it was a great display of the rhino's awesome power!
The white rhino is the largest living land animal after the elephant . They have massive bodies, short necks, and broad chests. These rhinos can weigh anywhere from 3,200 lbs, up to a tremendous 7,936 lbs - that's almost 4 US tons!
They have a noticeable muscular hump on the back of the neck which supports the large head. On their snout are two medial horns, one behind the other. The rear horn is smaller, but the front horn can reach up to 166 cm or 65 inches. The front horn is a formidable weapon to any animal that dares to come close.
The white rhino gets it's name, not because they are white, but from the Afrikaan word "Wyt" which means wide. And wide these rhinos are - they are the tank of the animal world!
The White Rhino's habitat is on the grassy savanna and brushy woodlands of Africa but unfortunately the White Rhino is labelled as 'Near Threatened' on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's list.

Well-dressed penguins are fascinated with underwater GoPro
We all take nature for granted sometimes, but every once and awhile we are offered a unique glimpse of nature that gives us a new perspective on what was once deemed common-place.
Take these playful, and well dressed penguins for example. These small African Penguins appear uncoordinated and clumsy as they waddle around on dry land. But the minute they hit the water, they're like Ferrari's of the sea!
Very much like puppies, they enjoy exploring their environment and this GoPro provides them a great opportunity to explore something new in their habitat. And also like puppies, they try their best to put the GoPro into their mouths. Don't you just want to give one of them a hug!?

Baby tree frog seeks human warmth on frosty night
Nature can be such a beautiful and fragile place.
While out for a hike, a tiny green dot was spotted along a busy highway. Looking closer revealed a beautiful female Gray Tree Frog hopping towards the roadway from the safety of the tall grass in the ditch. Even in the summer, cool and frosty nights cause even the smallest of animals to seek the warmth of area roads and highways.
In an attempt to coax this little lady away from the road, she hopped onto his outstretched finger and then settled down into the warmth of his hand. The video starts shortly after she snuggled in.
The Gray Tree Frog, Hyla Versicolor, is native to Canada and the United States and is typically found in the upper reaches of arboreal trees. It's a rare sight to see one down on the ground like her. Gray Tree Frogs are fascinating in that they can change their colors to match their environment. Although they can't change their colors as fast as a chameleon, their colors can range from bright green to dark grey or black.
After a quick break and warming up, this Gray Tree Frog hops off of his hand and back onto the shoulder of the road. A few quick prods of the finger causes her to hop back to the safety of the tall grass. What a treat to see!
