Recently much false information has been published on the internet concerning China’s dog meat trade and the work of various animal welfare organisations towards fighting the trade.
Some of this misinformation contains derogatory and false information about Soi Dog Foundation.
We have published a statement detailing what Soi Dog is (and is not) doing to assist dogs rescued from China’s dog meat trade.
Please visit our website https://www.soidog.org/content/china
An update on the dogs and how you can help them will be posted on this page in the coming hours.

Pregnant Dog Got Hit By A Car, Went Into Labor The Moment She Was Rescued
This brave mother stood her ground, even though she was severely injured by a reckless human. Lucky for her, not all humans are like that.
Trin was heavily pregnant when she got hit by a car on the street. The driver ran away, but one man witnessed the whole ordeal and couldn’t let the unfortunate dog whither away on the street. The scared female ran away, but the hero didn’t give up on his search to find and take care of the dog.
He eventually found her on a construction site, holed up in a concrete pipe. That is when Trin’s hero saw the severity of her problems - the dog had gone into labor.
The savior called the Soi Dog shelter, because it had been evident that the mother will need some serious surgery. After delivering her litter of five adorable puppies, the vets at the shelter came to the conclusion that one of Trin’s hind legs is badly broken and will have to be amputated. The Soi Dog staff took excellent care of Trin’s puppies until the mother recuperated.

Watch The Reaction Of This Lovely Dog Upon Hearing He Has Been Adopted
Dreadlock is almost 10 years old and has been at our shelter for the last 4 of those years. He arrived with horrendous skin problems and a filthy, matted coat, hence his name.
Dreadlock loves his cuddles and his walks, but he is generally a placid, quiet, older dog, who doesn't get excited about much. Imagine our surprise then at the reaction one of our volunteers got when he went to tell Dreadlock that he has been adopted and will leave soon for his forever home in the UK...
There are thousands of dogs and cats at the Soi Dog shelter in Thailand, just waiting for their second chance at life. If you are in the market for a new companion, please consider adopting. The animals can travel to the US, Canada and Europe and the Soi Dog team will organise everything for you.

Rescued from the dog meat trade, they're on their way home
As Soi Dog Foundation builds its network of partner rescues in the US and Canada, so the number of dogs we can re-home increases. Recently, 27 survivors of the dog meat trade embarked on the first leg of their long journey home.
Travelling from their shelter in Buriram, northern Thailand, to temporary housing at our shelter in Phuket where they will spend their quarantine period, this video is the story of that journey.
Please watch and share, and if you are a Canadian or US-based rescue who would like to get involved, PLEASE EMAIL cristy@soidog.org

Please Help The Suffering Cats Of Thailand
Each year, Soi Dog cares for, sterilises and treats thousands of cats.
Without veterinary treatment, these cats would have been left to suffer from disease, malnutrition and injuries caused by road accidents or cruelty. Most would have died agonising deaths. YOU can stop this by joining the Care for Cats Club: https://www.soidog.org/en/join-the-ca...

Dog has front legs hacked off with sword, makes incredible recovery
His crime had been to chew a pair of shoes belonging to a neighbour. Despite Cola’s owner paying for the damage, her neighbour attacked the pup, who was only about 9 months old at the time, severing his legs with a sword.
Cola has come a long way since that horrific incident last May but, without the people like you who make up our Emergency Response Team, he would most likely not be alive today. Please go to https://ert.soidog.org/cola to join this life-saving team now, so that suffering animals can continue to get the care they need!
The man who carried out this despicable act of cruelty was charged under the Animal Welfare Act but the sentence handed down consisted of just one month imprisonment. While this is incredibly lenient, it is important to remember that had this barbaric attack taken place two years ago, the perpetrator would have not faced any charges. Thailand only introduced its first ever Animal Welfare Law in late 2014 and it is still very much a work in progress.
Cola was taken to a specialist clinic in Bangkok, with Soi Dog Foundation covering the costs. Once he had recovered sufficiently, the clinic team was able to fit him with custom-made prosthetics. Meanwhile his owner surrendered him to our care, too fearful to return him to his old home.
A few weeks later, Soi Dog co-founder Gill flew to Bangkok to collect Cola and bring him to Phuket. Gill herself uses prosthetics, having lost both her legs while saving a dog in 2004.
Cola is now living with Gill and husband John, enjoying the comforts of a loving home and walks on the beach. Everything that has been done for him was made possible thanks to the support of people like you – the members of our Emergency Response Team.
As we are now being asked to help with vet bills for an increasing number of situations such as this, will you please go to https://ert.soidog.org/cola to join the Emergency Response Team ensuring more animals like Cola get the help they need?
