Making our rental a home

Our stop was brief! The water falls are not flowing by late summer (August). We still hung around and walked the trails for a couple hours

Wagner Falls is right off the road when leaving Munising, Michigan. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to it after parking on the side of the highway.

A must: 9:30am Latin Mass with a chapel tour from Ricardo Let your lodging know you're in town to visit the shrine and you may receive a discount :)

This was a last minute excursion to humor the little one, but we all greatly enjoyed it. The first shipwreck is the coolest and worth the ticket. The scenery and bald eagles are added bonuses

Pete's Lake Campground, located about 25 min south of Munising, is nestled in the center of Michigan's Hiawatha National Forest. We only stayed here because all the prime lakeshore camping real-estate was reserved... HOWEVER! we cannot complain, we loved the stay. The wolves were out howling every night. hiking, biking, fishing, boating and more. The campground offers a swimming beach and day-use picnic area. No showers. The bathrooms are respectable (kept clean, smell and bugs are managed, and toilet paper stocked.)

The Log Slide Overlook is located west of Grand Marais on the eastern side of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The log slide was a large wooden chute from the top of the dunes to the water where the logs would be collected and loaded onto ships for transport.
