Some highlights green and blue I have raised my family on Costa Rican seas. The oceans sustain and provide for us everyday. So, I would like to thank you deeply for your most excellent support of saving sharks in this green country embracing blue.. That’s why I think you would like to know about how Costa Rican dolphins of the Osa Peninsula need saving as well. Videos and photos of the giant groups of dolphins here show numbers of animals unequaled by any known media (see video below). Unlike anywhere known around the world, dolphin superpods can be found offshore in Costa Rica at the Osa peninsula all year round. The dolphins are being killed by nets and lines. Like large land animals, large sea animals need large areas of protection to survive. A pelagic ecosystem park for offshore Osa Peninsula would not only save the largest known resident dolphin pods, but also myriad other marine life, including sharks. This pelagic nursery would benefit all of Costa Rica and indeed, all denizens of our planet. Check out how the manta shows her bright white highly visible belly to Star and blows bubbles to her! Then she shows me her belly, approaches, and swims alongside me. Osa Peninsula Providing my daughter with a storybook upbringing is the greatest feeling ever, even better than her providing our dinner.😀 Living with wild nature and seeing it through a child’s eyes as she learns to thrive gives the most beatific visions our minds can contemplate. The gift of being able to home school and spend these wonder years together learning is the greatest gift. And nature is the greatest teacher. Our minds are designed to be opened by loved ones and wild nature.

Spending thousands of hours underwater with dolphins allowed them to teach me they are greeting us. They use sounds, body language and bubbles to convey greetings to each other and other cetacean species, as well as us. Aloha is the greeting from one of the most oceanic human cultures ever known to exist, the Polynesians. So I think Hawaiian is perhaps one of the most appropriate human languages to use to translate the word for “greetings” or “welcome” from these finned ocean navigators.

This is one of my coolest encounters with an orca. Yes, I was afraid, but respect and awe and an understanding of cetacean behaviors washed away the fear, so I kept shooting. I know she was showing me the health of her teeth, part of an ancient orca greeting ritual, that she felt I might understand. And she was right. She showed me other parts of her body too, as you can see in other videos from this interaction. When cetacean start off showing you their undersides, their most vulnerable place, they are trusting. That is why I trusted her and kept filming. This shot was filmed off the Osa Peninsula on the Orca Trail. Costa Rica. Orca have used the same specific trails in Costa Rica at the same time of year, for decades. Amazingly enough, false killer whales or pseudorca, also use the same exact trails, often around the same time. Orcas are the largest members of the dolphin family and the Offshore Osa Marine Hot Spot, the Osa Peninsula,and the Nicoya Peninsula and the offshore islets of Guanacaste, all in Costa Rica, are places they are sure t visit when they are in town. Blue babbles and bubbles and poop with Dolphins. That is how you know you are part of the pod. These dolphins have done this with us for decades. When they swim with us they are safer from the ships, boats, helicopters, lines and hooks that normally fill their waters. Selling seafood to China is king in Costa Rica and these dolphins swim with more seafood then anywhere else in Costa Rica. Costa Rica’s secret illegal fishing fleet is on them, and the money, everyday. Most Costa Ricans are terrified to speak up for the Offshore Osa Marine Hot Spot, because the nefarious and heinous illegal fleets terror extends to all parts of Costa Rica. Whatsup? Pura Vida, Aloha! from the deep blue sea. In the Offshore Osa Marine Hot Spot, Costa Rica. These Pseudorca are among the largest members of the dolphin family, after Orca and Pilot Whales. They have swam the same water trail through Costa Rica for decades, and that includes a few days to a few weeks hunting in the Offshore Osa Marine Hot Spot. This pod of young ones and an adult turn around to show me their bellies and then slow down so I can see their catch! As we make sounds together! Seriously, how cool is that! One day people will treat the tribes of the sea with respect and dignity, recognising the magnificence of their ancient cultural wisdom, that is older than human cultures.
