This song tells a true story of Love . In Irelands war of Independance one of the leaders who was executed by firing Squad by the British was Joseph Plunkett , as a last request he asked to be able to marry his sweetheart Grace Gifford . The married in the prison and he was executed the next day . He wrote some words on his cell wall and this song was wrote from it .

This song came to me 3 days after that horrible day . It was inspired I am sure by the heroics of the responders and the response the people who stood together in the face of it . I was on holiday in the US at the time and will never forget it . WWG1WGA

I wrote this many years ago after meeting Danny's brothers and they explained what had happened . On the spot the words " They all miss you Danny Boy , all miss you Danny boy " came into my head . I asked could I write a song for him and they agreed. With the help of great friends and the FOP in Philly we got the song passed around to highlight the story of this great Irish American .
