Young dancers get their chance to ‘Bloom’
Young ballet dancers will have a chance to shine in Bloom, a Cape Junior Ballet production, to be staged in Bergvliet next month.
Forty-eight dancers from the Rondebosch ballet company, along with three guest dancers from Cape Town City Ballet and 10 of Athlone’s Dance for All dancers will perform in the production.

Artful rhino project creates awareness
A crash of 16 rhinos, painted and decorated by local artists, has taken up residence at the Table Bay Hotel, aiming to raise awareness against poaching, and at the same time, showcase the artists’ work.
The little rhinos, part of the Artful Rhino project, are displayed in glass boxes in the hotel’s lobby and entrance, were previously displayed at the V&A Waterfront, where over R100 000 was raised by selling t-shirts bearing prints of the colourful rhino sculptures.

A bee researcher’s three-year court battle with the man who was found guilty, in August last year, of assaulting her has finally come to an end after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) decided not to prosecute her.
Jenny Cullinan was charged with assault after her attacker, Neel Ramlall, filed a counter-claim of assault against her, following his assault on her on the afternoon of July 31, 2021
The charges against her were officially withdrawn in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday August 13.
