This is easily the best implementation of Virtual Reality Player vs Flatscreen Players I've seen in a video game to date. It's amazing fun to play as the Giant, but it's also surprisingly tiring having to consistently duck, dodge and weave around while trying to target the players. Map design plays a key role in whether or not it's balanced and fun between the two teams, but as a party game Davigo is excellent. If it wasn't clear from the gameplay, the turn based combat is actually very lethal and so the stealth beforehand to assassinate what enemies you can is vital to winning fights. I gotta say Offworld absolutely nailed this one. This is the sort of game I hope to see in Early Access - it's a fully playable and actually fun game with a great gameplay loop from day one. The game isn't just a promise of something good in the future - it's already great. Yes, there are bugs and issues, I experienced a crashing issue in the second recording that was frustrating until fixed, and sometimes you'll end up with buildings double-placed or you'll bug when you die, but the bugs are under a reasonable level, and unlike the Early Access games that I heavily criticise, the game's design is exceptional. I don't think they need to rework the shooting or the building for example - there's just polish left to do and more content to be added. My biggest complaint with the game is that Gunner Bugs are unfun to fight and would benefit from a rebalance or perhaps a weakness to melee. hello chaps if you haven't seen the tweet or community post I'm currently a bit injured after a fight with my own bed. I was hoping to have a big edit finished today but sitting and editing for hours and hours doesn't exactly help the injury, so instead I hope this little clip will tide people over until I can return to editing. I was using my chair to rotate myself instead of actually twisting my body around just so we could do some quick test flights in the new jet, and I ended up laughing so hard it physically hurt (breathing in too sharply presses on the injured area) but I think the pain was worth it. King of the Castle definitely sits as one of the better 'Twitch Chat' games that exist out there. That being said I do hope the dev decides to give the players more ways to influence things or the monarch more to do, as while the game is always going to be quite heavy RNG, we had scenarios where people were simply doomed by RNG or having other factions consistently get events while theirs gets none. In our second match for example a rebellion happened and it was 3 Chiefs events back to back, with no other faction getting an event, all the while the Chiefs were gaining power and points. I understand the game's not trying to be a real kingdom simulator, it's a silly party game, but I think improving some of these areas would make me want to play it again as RNG can only be funny for so long before it becomes tiring. Let me be clear, the game is VERY rough around the edges and there's definitely still a lot I'd like to see changed. I was rather sad that the battles saved trenches but you always returned to your own positions, rather than generating further battlefields (and therefore occupying the enemy trenches as yours) but the game itself was surprisingly engaging and fun for what is one of the slowest forms of warfare possible. It also FEELS like WW1, where units get obliterated in a second and the solution is send THRICE AS MANY MEN THIS TIME. Honestly, it's fun, and with a lot of polish could be a really respectable addition to the RTS genre, a tradition-breaker in the same way that Starship Troopers: Terran Command is. Well, that was Sons of the Forest. If you didn't understand the story, that's fine, there's literally just 3 cutscenes in the whole game and you saw them all, the story makes zero sense. The first game's story wasn't anything special and this one is worse. The disconnect between the survival game, the forest, cannibal tribes and the caves, labs, and story content is even worse than the first game. It's got a lot of cool ideas, but overall nothing is executed too well, and the package deal is awkward as all hell. Honestly of all of the games during the NextFest demos, this one surprised me the most for how much fun it is. I think that despite it hard crashing a grand total of like 7 seven times, the fact that we came back and tried to replay the mission each time really shows how good this game is. The UI definitely needs work, but the actual gameplay feels so fresh and detailed for an RTS, I love it. The detail in the arsenal is incredible as well, with adjustments not just upping various stats but potentially changing the role of the vehicle altogether.
