Rescue 1 of the FDNY operates in the NYC borough of Manhattan,they respond to some of the most serious operations in Manhattan. Types of calls they go on include, Dive Operations,Collaspe,Trench, Confined Space,Heavy Extrication,High Angle, as well as working fires. Training is extensive and ongoing.Many members have Military backgrounds, and special skill sets.

The world famous Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds fly over Long Island to pay respects for the frontline workers during the Covid Pandemic.
