Knives for Self Defense
HB 2342 prohibits the concealed carrying of weapons such as switchblades, butterfly knives, and electric guns which are often used in self-defense. As someone with a mother, sister, and nieces, I believe women should especially be empowered to be safe and defend themselves.

Increasing Taxes
HB 1537 would increase property taxes specifically to fund education. Hawaii currently spends about $18,000 to educate one child in the public school system. It ranks 17th for education spending with 34 states spending less per child yet continues to have some of the lowest SAT scores in the nation. The DOE Superintendent is paid over $200,000 a year and right now there’s a bill circulating in the legislature to pay him over $300,000 a year.
We should find better ways to manage and spend the taxpayer money that we already have budgeted before increasing the people of Hawaii’s tax burden yet again.

Should your Taxes pay for everyone's college?
HB 1795 establishes a working group to evaluate possibilities for providing “free” community college. “Free” college means tax money from your income would pay for someone else to go to college even if you don’t have a college degree.

Erasing Parental Consent
Give testimony on this bill.
HB 2436 authorizes minors 14 years of age or older to consent to medical care and services for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, family planning services, abortions, including the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, with no parental consent. It excludes parents from their children's healthcare.
Parents should be involved in their children's healthcare. The brain is not fully developed until the age of 25 years old, and minors are not independent enough to make these decisions.
