Reflection The scene described by John takes place on the shores of Lake Tiberias. A group of Galilean fishermen, disciples of Jesus, after the failure in the night fishing, achieves abundant fishing, when they throw their nets to the side indicated by the unknown who tells them about the beach. After Jesus, Peter and the disciple whom Jesus loved are the protagonists of the scene. Peter is the most striving fisherman; the other disciple is the first to recognize Jesus. John then narrates the disciples' meal with the risen Lord. The wish for peace between them not was a formality. Rather, the greeting of Jesus acquired a special consistency. For the disciples, disturbed by the resurrection, this peace consisted in establishing a relationship correct with the Risen One. It was about overcoming fear, perplexity, astonishment, trouble, doubt, unbelief, distrust, and welcome, in faith, the Risen One present among them. All these sentiments reveal the absence of peace. This is why Jesus is presented as one strives to make peace happen in the hearts of disciples, in the form of openness to faith, ability to recognize him as the Master from the illumination of the intelligence to penetrate the meaning of Scripture, of overcoming hardness of heart. Therefore, without peace, in the sense desired by Jesus, they could not open up to the newness of the resurrection. Only in peace would the disciples be able to recognize the risen Jesus, and experience communion with him. This was the first step to be taken by the disciple in process of realizing your faith in the Lord.

His death on the cross, however, left in the disciples the taste of frustration and disappointment! It was necessary for the Risen One to call them to reality. They were not exempted from the mission. Therefore, there was no reason to disperse and return to their hometown, since they had, before them, a world to be evangelized. It was foolish to cultivate feelings of death when life had already begun to bloom and was present in the Risen One. Why fixate on the negative aspect of life, since the reality goes much further? The disciples of Emmaus portray disillusioned Christians of all times, since they do not believe in the possibility of creating a fraternal world. They are the pessimists, centered on themselves, unable to project them selves beyond their own horizons. That is, they are Christians in whom the resurrection has not yet borne fruit. Only the discovery of the Risen One enables the Christian to overcome the setbacks of life. Then he will realize that, despite the cross, it is worth adding efforts to build the Kingdom.

And he saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been laid, one at the head, and the other at the feet. The angels asked him: 'Woman, why are you crying? The new condition of Jesus required a new kind of relationship. Mary expressed her affection for Jesus in the various details of his behavior. The news of the disappearance of the Lord’s body left her perplexed. With this, he lost a sure sign of the presence of his dear friend, even reduced to a corpse. Without it, he would not have a precise place to address when he wished to mourn the irreparable loss of his friend. Therefore, even if everyone had gone away, she remained alone, at the entrance of the tomb, crying. Her dialogue with the angels occurred spontaneously, without her realizing that she was talking to celestial beings. All he cared about was where they put "my Lord". Likewise the dialogue with the Risen One took place. At first, Maria thought she was a gardener. Demonstrating an admirable strength of spirit, she showed herself willing to go alone to fetch the Master’s corpse to put it back in the tomb. As soon as she recognized the Master’s voice, she tried to hold on to it. But he urged her to change her behaviour. From now on, the sign of friendship that the Lord wanted from her was to become a missionary of the resurrection. It’s about time I could touch him physically.

Don't criticize! Try first to collaborate with everyone, without criticizing. Criticism hurts, and no one likes to be hurt. And the creature who likes to criticize, little by little, finds himself isolated from everyone. If you see something wrong, speak with love and affection, trying to help. But, above all, try to correct others, through your own example.

Be the same, inside and outside the home. The home is a miniature society! Society is the extended home. In either case, be the same: firm in your word, secure in your thinking, honest in your actions, calm in your confidence. Man is what he is.
