Piglets Start Electric Fence Training 4/18/2021
Piglets where in just panel wire fencing. I took one panel away and started them I learn about electric fence. With the rope like fence and easy to move fence posts makes creating new areas easier, but does take some planning with making electric and how to plan adding or taking away areas. This year I have girls, named them Thelma and Louise.

Prepping Nestbox 3/20/2021
This New Zealand doe is getting ready for the birth of her first litter of kits. The does will grab lots of material, this case straw, in their mouth to prep the area the babies will crawl into once born. Once or sometimes twice a day the mom will feed them after the kits are born.
Some mom's will pack a whole lot more hay in their mouth then you just saw here. Some does will make nests early and others sometimes wait till the day of birth.

Chicken Going to Get You! 2/28/2021
Finally weather warmer after the cold streak and I was working cleaning in the rabbitry. Chickens out enjoying weather and scratching in the rabbitry. My dog had a little issue with a "bully" hen from the new chicks I showed videos of previously this last fall.

First Use of Soap Stamps to Try
I just made new wooden stamps to stamp my bars of soap. Showing four of the six stamps I made over this past week in spare time. Will clean up the stamps a little more to remove the pen ink from the wooden surface and finesse some details I might see yet and clean up the side edge of the stamp block.
I found it hard to press the stamp in while recording this video with my other hand.

Old Doe had 2 Kits 12/5/2020
Gem is my oldest doe. She not producing big litters, but she can be an excellent foster mom, which is one reason I keep her. These two are growing fast since there is only two of them so there is plenty of milk from Gem. The other doe I bred at same times had hers for awhile that I thought for sure Gem didn't rebred, but she did! It is colder temperatures now so my breeding program is reduced as it harder on babies during the winter months. I do have some hacks like covering cage with a light weight rug to allow air in through the bottom of cage with creating a barrier from the cold that helps. But I only have a few rugs to use until I can obtain more.

Chick Update 11/3/2020
Nights will be warmer for now in Wisconsin, so the chicks are moved into the coop early morning. (Sun rising yet, so a little dark in the coop for this video.). They finally get more room!
In case you see shredded paper, that is because I reuse my shredded paper in the chicken nest boxes for the eggs. When cleaned out with the chicken poop it easily composts together. Another way to reuse shredded paper. Avoid paper with plastic or waxy surfaces or look on the web for more information on how to reuse items like shredded paper that can help amend your soil.

Pig Stuffing Mouth Full of Bedding 10/31/2020
Opened up the last area available to to the pig by moving the wire to the top of the fence posts. One pig went in the new area and stuffed a bunch of grass in his mouth to take to their laying spot for bedding. Fun to watch this natural instinct.

New Born Kits by a 1st Time Mama Bunny's Kits 10/26/2020
First viewing of babies (New Zealand kits) of a first time mama rabbit. She birthed 6 and 4 survived. In a couple days these little pinkies will turn white as their fur starts growing in.
The get out of here statement is telling a cat to go away that was curious too.

Five Days Rutting Update 10/23/2020
An update on progress of the pigs rutting up a new area given that has buckthorn stumps and roots I seek to get uprooted. If a person wants faster progress than this then confining to just that area would speed up the progress. But I choose to let them work at it while having a large fenced area to enjoy besides this along the wood-line.

Chick Update 10/24/2020
Brown and Black chicks are getting bigger! Eating and drinking a lot more. Looking at one more week in this space at the least and get them in the coop for more room to move. Right now weather is very cold so I have to keep them in this space to keep warm.

Pigs Rut Along Woodline 10/19/2020
Opened a new section for the pigs to rut and help control the buckthorn by uprooting the stumps from cutting down the buckthorn. They have been in this less than 24 hours when this video was recorded.

Chickens Scratching 10/10/2020
Rooster RJ and younger chickens scratching thru the rabbit manure I cleaned out of the rabbitry. Rabbit manure is high in nitrogen and a cold fertilizer, meaning it won't burn the plants with too much fertilizer. Pigs are in the background and I give a little glance to see the fall leaves.

Pigs Roll Over for Belly Rubs
I like having happy and friendly pigs. 3 out of the 4 roll over to get their tummies rubbed. These boys push up against me really hard before going down on their side. After they get their time from me, they do relax and walk around more, but not until they get their attention time in. (I have had previous pigs roll over for belly rubs in the past years and those didn't almost push me over like this year's boys.)
