Armed convicted felon gets shot in a shoot out with Charleston police officer.
On January 21, 2024, officers responded to the Walgreens on Ashley River Road just after 6:40 p.m. for a call about a suspicious person and possible armed robbery suspect. When Schwartz arrived on scene, he saw a person matching the suspect's description walking through the parking lot of the Walgreens and later running toward the rear of the building.
The officer chased the man, ordering him numerous times to get on the ground. Hampton instead grabbed at his waistband as he fled. He then dropped what looked like a handgun and bent over to pick it up.
As Hampton reached for what he dropped, the officer fired at Hampton four quick times. Hampton fired back once. The officer fired his gun again as Hampton fled the scene.
Hampton was located 10 minutes later, hiding in a grassy culvert behind Home Team Barbeque, and was arrested without further incident. In the path where he ran, a black .357-caliber handgun was found.
Hampton suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. The officer was not hit by a bullet, but he injured his hand dodging the shot. Neither person's injury was life-threatening.
Hampton has been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. An investigation determined he was not involved in the West Ashley armed robberies he was initially thought to be a suspect of.
The Charleston Police Department was notified on April 17 that no charges would be filed against Schwartz for his involvement in the shooting.

Video shows suspect knock people over, ram cruiser before East Hartford police fire gunshots
On May 19, 2024, at approximately 3:29 p.m., East Hartford police officers were dispatched to Governor’s Auto Body & Repair, 200 Governor Street, East Hartford on a report that a male had displayed a firearm at one of the tow operators. This arose out of a dispute surrounding whether items were missing from a vehicle that had been towed into the auto body shop the day before. The first arriving officer, Officer Brian Altamirano, observed a white Infinity in the parking lot. A male was in the driver’s seat and a second male and female were standing next to the passenger side of the Infinity. A second East Hartford police cruiser, operated by Officer Daniel Guilfuchi, arrived at the body shop and stopped near the Infinity. Officer Altamirano exited his cruiser and asked if anyone had any firearms. In an effort to escape, the Infinity drove forward crashing into Officer Guilfuchi’s cruiser. The white Infinity then reversed, quickly moving backwards knocking the two people on the passenger side to the ground. At that time, they were holding two children. While Officer Guilfuchi was in the process of exiting his cruiser, the Infinity drove forward again colliding with the front of his cruiser. Officer Guilfuchi discharged his duty weapon approximately six times at the Infinity. Officer Altamirano also discharged his duty weapon at the Infinity. The Infinity, operated by an unidentified suspect, fled westbound on I-84. The vehicle was ultimately located abandoned at 14 Tredeau Street, Hartford. It was later determined that the vehicle had been stolen.

Woman charged with killing adopted son, tied boy’s arms, threw him into pool
Homicide detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested and charged 36-year-old Patricia Saintizaire, of Davenport, with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and tampering with a witness in the death of her 4-year-old son who she adopted from Haiti.
The child was brought to the United States and adopted by Saintizaire in April 2023. Deputies were notified on May 2 by staff at Orlando Health Medical Center that a 4-year-old child died under what appeared to be suspicious circumstances. The child’s body was taken to the District 9 Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The medical exam at the hospital revealed an abdominal bleed that emergency surgery could not rectify. Detectives learned that the child was first brought to Heart of Florida hospital in Davenport by Saintizaire, but due to his significant injuries, he was flown to hospital in Orlando. Saintizaire repeatedly denied to detectives that she ever used physical discipline as punishment. Her husband told detectives that he does not discipline the children, but that she does. During initial interviews with the child’s older teen brother, he denied being abused or witnessing abuse. However, after placing that teenager into custody of Florida Department of Children and Families, he then said to detectives that Saintizaire told him, “When they ask you something, say nothing so I don’t get in trouble.” He also alleged that she threatened to kill him with a gun. Detectives also learned that when the victim got home from school recently, the older brother went to another room for approximately two hours and did not see or hear what happened to the 4-year-old. Saintizaire then told the brother to bring food to the victim, but he noted that the child was unable to walk on his own and struggled to sit up at that time. Saintizaire told the older brother that the victim was “faking it” and urged him to feed him. The victim then became unresponsive and the older brother began performing CPR, telling Saintizaire they needed to take him to the hospital.
